Need a cheap AI hol Aug 2013- family of 4! How? :(

Hello!
Myself and my hubby have a week off in early August and were going to go camping... then decided that £330 for the pitch we booked (paid deposit already of £30 so would lose that), plus £££ in fuel (hubbys car thirsty, mine too small for camping gear), plus spends (we can easily spend £600 in a week camping just on eating out/snacks/day trips and parking etc), would mean it would cost over £1000. And if the weather is crap it's not so great.
So I hoped to find a decent holiday for the 4 of us, not fussy where as long as it's hot, near a good beach and the hotel has good food, drink and entertainment. A nice busy area would be fab. All Inclusive as did this for our honeymoon and barely spent anything else, takes the stress of forking out for drinks and food whilst there away.
I hoped I could find one for £1000 or under since it's only a little over 2m away but the prices are sky high.
We also have a week of in Sept (this depends on if my eldest can have the time off school)- prices cheaper then but still not dirt cheap.
I am looking on holiday sites such a Travel Republic, Sunmaster, Sunsave and onthebeach.
Is there a cheaper way to find a decent AI hol for the 4 of us? Kids are 4 and 7.
Please help- I hear of these amazing deals on holidays that people get but I have no idea where from.. am I being unrealistic?x

am I being unrealistic?
In a word, yes
I don't think you'll find anything that fits your criteria for much less than £500pp0 -
All inclusive for 4 people in August somewhere hot for under £1000? No chance.
You'd struggle to do Butlins for £1000 in August and that wouldn't be AI.0 -
I will eat my hat if you find something for that price! Friend has just booked a week near Malaga,- one adult and two teenagers AI for this August.
She paid £2000 and this was the cheapest she could find having trawled through loads of holidays for the last few weeks, and monitered flight prices with the low cost airlines.
She booked flights with Ryanair in the end and the hotel direct.
Also, just so you are aware, there are loads of horror stories about On The Beach. I wouldn't touch them.:eek:I also know someone who used Sunmaster, her expeience with them was dreadful.
The catalogue of horrors is too much to go in to on here, but suffice to say she would never use them again!
I have used Travel Republuc and Sunshine holidays in the last couple of years, and would not hesitate to use them again. Sunshine in particular was excellent.
Good look. Let us know how you get on.:)0 -
hi, the cheapest i have found so far for a week AI abroad in august, is £1285.51 for the lot of you in tenerife, thats with OTB.. have not tried any other countries yet.Corduroy pillows are making headlines! Back home in London now after 27years wait! Duvet know it's Christmas, not original, it's a cover.0

Just check the reviews to see what you are getting for your money as cheap AI can be very scary indeed. For that £320 each you a paying for flights, transfers, accommodation for a week, food and drink plus all taxes and profits for everyone involved. How much of that budget do you think will be spent on your food?
AI may sound attractive if you have a family but you may find yourself having to spend a lot more money in the resort if the food is inedible.0 -
Wait until very late, like 3 days beforehand, and log onto the first choice late deals website0

yep dosh, i agree with ya, but it aint for me, plus it's kids free, so £600 plus each with the OTB discount, may not be too bad, lifes a gamble to me, i would takeit, if i had no other choice than camping here.Corduroy pillows are making headlines!
