Satellite TV alternatives to sky

Our sky contract is nearing to an end. It hardly seemed worth having the full package (on a 50% discount code) when the only things watched were either the occasional film, sometimes F1 and been able to watch certain programmes in HD.
I'm aware I'll have to change the receiver and maybe the dish if need be. As the dish and cables are already installed what other alternatives are there to sky?

Just to be sure, you're aware that you can cancel your Sky subscription and continue watching all the Freesat-from-sky channels, including some of the HD channels, without doing anything else?0

I recently downgraded to FreeSat and although I miss some channels such as Sky-1 I soon got use to making do with what I had. I am going to look at a Humax Freeview PVR though.0

No change of dish or cabling is required to switch to !!!!!! or Freesat. Only a change of box is required for Freesat. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Thanks for your replies.
I've cancelled it even though they tried to tempt me with other various deals including 30% off. It was a no brainer to continue to cancel. I originally signed up with a 50% discount on whatever package I signed up to :rotfl:
I'm interested in the larger dish route but need to try and get me head round all the info. Only want to do it once correctly.0 -
You don't need a larger dish or any new equipment for Freesat From Sky. All you need for Freesat is a Freesat digibox or PVR. Otherwise the same dish, LNB and alignment.
You would only need a larger dish if yo want to pick up transmissions from other satellites serving the rest of Europe or elsewhere. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
