Do I have to accept a refund - I want a replacement!

Hi
Yesterday I took delivery of a £29 Nook from Argos. I spent ages trying to set it up and finally contacted the helpdesk. They told me that I have been sold a US version which has been mislabelled as a UK version. Looking at the chat online this has happened to very many people over the last couple of days.
The helpdesk person said there is no way to reconfigure the item - it has to be replaced. My problem is that there is no stock of the nook anywhere at this price. I suspect that when I go to Argos they will offer me a refund. Do I have a right to hold on until they get new stock even if it then comes in at the regular price of £70?
Regards

I think Argos offers a return policy for refund of 14 days, so just take it back to the store and say it is not suitable you would like refund.0

My point was that I don't want a refund - I want them to replace it with a UK version. If I had to go out and buy the nook today it would cost me £70 whereas I managed to get it at £29.0

They have a right for the retailer to refund, repair or replace. As long as they do that you have no reason to complain.
If they have no stock in then they will refund.
Its annoying but there is not much you can do about it.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Unfortunately, you can't force them to provide a remedy that is disproportionately costly.
Perhaps its better calling them and asking if they will allow you to get a replacement when more stock comes in but due to the above, I wouldnt hold your breath. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
Why was the device so heavily discounted?0

Apparently the makers of nook are trying to make more of an impression on the UK market - many thousands have been sold in recent weeks at less than half price. All retailers are out of stock and I think new stock will come in at full price - it was a limited offer.
I will speak to argos but sadly it looks as though I've missed out this time.0 -
I am wondering if the discount was due to them being "American"versions, do you have a link to the original offer?0

No - there have been lots of very happy £29 nook-buyers - it just seems to be a problem with this recent batch (around 10,000!) from Argos0

Yes i just did a search on the web.
If the item you have is different to as advertised then I guess you could try to get a replacement
Have you emailed the makers advising them of your issue?.0
