I love Sunday mornings! Kids playing happily (ish you know the score:D) and I'm eating home made cake drinking tea. Yum.

Long night at work last night but the MSE dream really helps get me through it!

After reading the freezer thread I made a load of ham sandwiches to freeze and also froze some beans that the children left :rotfl: will be a handy lunch sized portion for ds. Dh thinks I have finally lost the plot.

Meal out today so looking forward to that.

Just claimed a £10 VO voucher for Sainsburys. I'm hoping there will be a 25% off TU week coming up soon so I can by my Niece a little outfit for her Birthday.

Complained to B00ts via their FB page regarding some tricky packaging and they credited me 1100 points! Can't grumble at that. I find this the best way to contact companies. I always get a fast reply seems more personal too.

I'm still freezing sandwiches :rotfl: makes evenings so much easier and organised.

Still doing amazingly well with the food budget. Why oh why didn't we do this years ago?

We now have a very attractive 'Pig' for our pennies courtesy of DD and her lovely painting skills! We will cash it in when full and add it to the holiday savings. I think it's lovely for the children to see how hard it is to save for things. I also think they will enjoy 'helping' to save.

Had a lovely morning painting with ds, he hates messy play usually but he loved it today. We made Valentine's pictures for DD and OH, quite pleased with them as I am usually rubbish at homemade things.

Ds is trying the first batch of defrosted beans today  would never tell anyone in real life :rotfl:

Off to work shortly. Looking forward to a relax with oh tomorrow night Mexican (homemade) and a film.

What a lovely weekend! We went for a family walk yesterday through the miles of woods we have on our doorstep. Was so nice to be outside and see the sun shining. We saw loads of snowdrops and dafodils. Spring is just around the corner.

Playgroup this morning. Ds was on best behaviour which is always a relief:rotfl:

I have just had a walk to B00ts. They credited me 1200 ac points after I complained about some packaging. I managed to use these to buy my Niece a lovely outfit for her Birthday. When I got to the till the assistant sent me back for a third item as all baby/childrens stuff is on offer 3 for 2. So I got the outfit and a pack of nappies for 1200 points. Very happy with that.

Lunch today was warmed up left over steak burrito and cherry pie with icecream and a latte for pudding. Very yum indeed. :T

    Happy Monday :)

    No update for ages!

    I'm still plodding on.

We have secured a 0% credit card for 2 years which we have put renovation costs onto from last year. This was in Ohs name but is now in mine so officially I should be a DFW :naughty: I'm not moving though!

I have set up a monthly payment of £100 which will clear it.

Things are so tight with our budget and our fairly low income (me being part time) so mop's are dropping to £3.54 a month for the time being!

I really need to get the cc paid off and a decent amount saved. This is the priority for now. I want to get my annual savings account to a good level too so that I can pay for things outright (Car insurance/Mot/Service/Home insurance etc). We have always paid for things monthly so this will be lots better. It's slightly trickier this first year as we are paying the direct debits and trying to save the amout too. Will be better when we can drop the DD and filter that money into the savings account.

Oh had a major wobble this week. He has worked so hard on the house and does crazy amounts of overtime (60+ hours a month sometimes:eek:). He has admitted defeat and he needs to reduce this. Unfortunatley this means a big drop in income but we need to have a life. Our basic wages cover everything so things could be a lot worse. He is a very manly man and I know he must be close to breaking point to admit this.

We may have to cancel our August holiday as this was going to come from overtime. :( Our Easter Holiday is all paid for so can still go there. I am going to try and Ebay like a crazy person and scrape together the £700 we need by July. I can but try. :D

Crikey that was a long post! Feels good to get it out :o

On a bit of a roll today.
    • Beds all made
    • Washing done and dryng outside
    • Offered Ohs plumbing services to our lovely neighbour
    • Sausages and pasta sauce out ready to make a pasta bake
    • Survey completed (50P) better than nothing!
    • Mortgage statement gone through with a fine tooth comb. Silly me I thought it was a 3 year deal but its 2! This is excellent news. Will be able to swap Feb 2015.
    • Next weeks sandwiches made and in the freezer.

Just did a Mortgage comparison (on todays rates I know these can change) but if there are similar deals next year we will be paying £150 less per month! So by keeping the payment the same as it is now we could pay it back 7.5 years early! :T Amazing!

    Happy Monday!

I worked a few extra hours yesterday so missed out on the sun. Hopefully should be an extra £100 in next months pay. That can pay for the English Heritage pass and the rest to the holiday pot.

DH, DD and DS went for a walk and a picnic which they enjoyed.

Pork casserole greeted me on my return home. Served with rice and chipped potatoes. Yummy.

Playgroup this morning we were there nearly 3 hours! Well worth £1. Ds now watching tv and I'm browsing diaries.

Just had a yummy lunch of tomato soup, crisps and cheese wraps. Burger, chips and beans for dinner. Very popular and quick and easy.

VO up to £4.50 so hopefully I will get that to £10 soon.

    Plans for this afternoon..
    • Wash dishes
    • Put a load of washing on
    • Tidy coats away which have appeared everywhere
    • Tidy toy room up

    :hello:Hi Muser
Great diary. We had the work v balanced life issue a couple of years ago, OH sounds similar to yours and was putting in a lot of overtime but was exhausted. All the extra money was knocked off our tax credits, so we decided it would be much better to work his regular hours, tighten our belts and enjoy family life. It's been much better for us as a family.

Sorry to hear about your summer hols.....we try to be frugal but I need lots of Mse holidays built in to look forward to, albeit camping. I hope you manage to gets some money together for a break.

Right.......I'm off to google 'rubber chicken':)
