I have just bought family tree maker from amazon, comes with 6 months of premiun Ancestry.co.uk access. @£25 for the software seemed like a good price.
I now have access to all the available censuses, through this and genes reunited.
I would be happy to look up (time permitting) entries if you would like me to.Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today!
Cos if you do it today and like it...You can do it again tomorrow..

I am just embarking on researching my family tree. Which is the best site to subscribe to? I know i will have to pay to find any information but want to make the right choice. Do the pay as you go credits transfer from one to the other?0

Hi ceewash
I have been researching my family history for years and subscribe to Ancestry myself. I pay this monthly, but they recently changed their levels of membership and I had to upgrade to the next one to access some of the records I used to be able to access. I am now paying £12.95 per month but cn access all of the census returns, some parish records, some military records and BMD. I personally would subscribe to this one on the premim level.
I also use Findmypast but as pay as you go. It depends how much research you plan on doing as to whether it is worth it. I am on Ancestry several times a week so for me it is worth it.
I would also recommend joining GenesReunited - you can't access records free but it will very likely put you in touch with other people researching the
same line as you
Also don't forget the IGI which is free to search - www.familysearch.org0 -
if you have a Church of Latter Day Saints in your area - get yourself along there. You can access their records for free, and they have lots of church records on microfiche.Bern :j0

Ancestry every time. There are occasionally free trials available so you can try it for a bit to see if you get on with it.
I recommend joining https://www.rootschat.com as well - it's a free site with lots of experienced people willing to help sort out problems and give advice.0 -
been doing mine for years. ancestry definately, BUT genesreunited is great and is only £9 for 6 months. get what tree you have up online and people who are connected to that tree will contact you back.
familyhistoryonline.org is also good. rootschat is free.
any help i can give PM me and i will do all i can. once you start it, you wont be able to stop it!!!!!
ancestry gives the best information though, they have the births death marriages and the census. BUT they dont yet have the 1911 census. thats up online on the national archives site.
good luckxxxx0 -
Just like to add that Findmypast is the only website that has access to the GRO index references so is likely to be the more accurate of the 2.0

Apparently if you join Ancestry through it's Australian site before Feb it's about half the price of the UK site.0
