So the letters will be going to your old address and you'll miss the chance to appeal.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Hmmm. Should I ignore the letters and hope it goes away? Or appeal now?
I've got mail redirect for 3 months. I've been so consumed with the house move, I really don't have time to fight a parking ticket.
  • Ukpc dont do court so u can safely ignore

Ignore it then - or simply reply to the first letter saying 'this is who was driving' and give your initial, surname and address (new address).

So that you'll then get to see all the letters that follow (which last MONTHS) rather than wondering if UKPC are about to change the habit of a lifetime and try a speculative small claim in a year or two - which after all, is what Parking Eye and Civil Enforcement have just started to do.

If it were me I would rather see the letters and appeal if you get time. 3 months redirect is not anything like long enough to see the letters through for this scam.

So I got the first letter today. But it does say the parking charge is legal and sites some law. My mam has taken the latter so she can download the sample letter from here and respond for me, I have no computer so can't print anything. But I'm still panicking.

I bet the "law" is the Protection of Freedom Act....POFA, Oct 1st 2012. Means little. They are citing it to make you think the' law' backs them up and they have a case and you better pay up. They don't pre PoFA nor now and you can continue to ignore.

Hmm a lot of brilliant advice here. Not. Wrote letter siting mitigating circumstances for being 11 minutes over. Got letter back today saying basically tough. The signs are clear, more than 4 hours is not permitted, apologised for any inconvenience and told me it was not their intention to cause undue stress, however the parking charge stands at £60 now (£30 had I paid within 14 days) and if I don't pay in 28 days it will increase to £100, if I still don't pay I'll be dealt with via small claims court. Even the popla paperwork says if I appeal and its declined I will have to pay. I can't use popla because they only give 4 reasons for appeal. And being 11 minutes over with screaming toddlers to see to is apparently not one of them.

Wish I'd just paid the £30 now. I really believe UKPC are prepared to take it all the way.

You are surprised they rejected your appeal???? Of course they did...their only desire is to extract some money from you.

You seem to be taking what the PPC as gospel! For goodness sake don't be taken in by them!!!!!!

The thing to do know is to make a proper and strong appeal to POPLA which will win as all POPLA appeals to date with help from here has won. Did you realise this? POPLA of course is binding on the PPC(but not you).

Am sure a regular will help you with a POPLA appeal which will quash this quickly.

You obviously have not read or taken in the advice on here, and you are being taken in hook line and sinker by these scammers!

Just follow the advice and you will be OK!

I can't believe how lazy and apparently defeatist some people are and, yes, I am referring to you Suzewuze.

You came on here saying "So I've seen lots of advice about ignoring, and lots about appealing. Which do I do?? Seriously. I don't want to pay,"

Well, you obviously haven't taken in what you claim to have read.

Initial appeals almost never win. We say that time and time again. You win at POPLA where you put your real appeal in.

There is a whole sticky called POPLA Decisions at the head of this forum. Go to it and read back from the latest post. What do you find?

You find that all victories are based not upon the so- called 4 appeal points but on other factors all related to the failure of the PPCs to operate within the rules.

I am disinclined to help any further following your post, but assuming that you wake up and smell the coffee and actually are prepared to take our advice, then did they give you a POPLA code (Did you ask for one?). That's now the starting point.

But if you feel that we are bad advisers, then feel free to think we have let you down and go it alone.
