I have recently put in a claim for DLA as i suffer from chronic back pain (split disk) and constant sciatica in my left leg and foot i recently lost my job back in march too having time off as its really bad. i see a physio every 3 weeks on co-codomol 30/500mg diclofenic and amtriptyline and going to my first pain mamnagement clinic appt tomorrow. i have care needs and my husband looks after me he has to help turn me in middle of the night constantly help put shoes pants on because bending is too difficult i cant stand for too long or sit for too long and always fidgeting i find walking really painful can only manage 4-5 steps and in excrutiating pain i have 3 kids and my youngest is 2 i cant bend to lift him or bathe him as cant get him in or out of bath etc i cant hoover my house as the strain pushing it causes me severe discomfort. even getting in and out of a car is a difficult task as i feel like someone is stabbing me in back. has anyone else been in a similar situation and had a claim for dla accepted. i see doctor regulary too.

How do you cope with all the excess work to look after your child?Tomorrow is the most important thing in life0

my husband helps me considerably with the kids.0

the trouble you have looking after your 2 year old wont be taken into consideration for DLA purposes. it is care that YOU need and not vare you give to someone else.
you should consider asking social services for an assessment as they may be able to provide help with your toddler.
the other care needs that you have mentioned are things that are covered by DLA ( bathing/fressing/walking)
did you go into detail on your form?
did you just say that you had problems doing certain things or did you detail exactly why you had problems?
i wish you luck abd fibgers crossed!0 -

But last month you bathed your child, you dressed them, you put the drops in their eyes for their DLA claim. Did you mean that your husband bathed your child and dealt with their excessive care needs, as you cannot bathe yourself or turn in bed?Tomorrow is the most important thing in life0 -
i dont want to be negative, but they really arent interested in what you can or cant do as a mother.
it is about YOUR needs, and what you can or cannot do for yourself ( washing/dressing/cooking/eating etc)
they want to know what you can't do and why you can't do it. giving the reason of 'pain' isnt usually enough.
but on a positive note, if they refuse you, it does seem like you should appeal.
is your GP?specialist supportive?
again i would suggest you contact social services for an assessment. they can be very helpful and provide adaptaions and support0 -

but that child was 5 and so big enough to get out of the bath on their own.
the child the OP says she cannot bathe is only 20 -
as i said in that other post the child is 5 this is my other child so when filling in the claim form about bathing they dont ask is it u or ur husband doing the bathing i help out as much as i can and there is a difference to bathing a 2 yr old to bathing a 5 yr old0

abd whether you can or cannot bathe your child is irrelevant to a DLA claim!0

You need to be careful, I do not know what you wrote on your last claim for your child but if you used the words I have to supervise her on walking, I have to do x or y, there is a possibility they could look at this.Tomorrow is the most important thing in life0
