I have set up a direct debit with my housing association. Problem is, checking my account on the 15th (day due out) the money did not go out. Phoned housing, they say it is in their account. 17th, same thing! They have checked details which are correct.
My question is, Why has money not gone out of my account? I do not want this each month as i want it to go out on the correct day and show in my account. I have never had this problem before with any other direct debits!

I'm a bit confused. Has the direct debit left your account or not? If so, which date?

I'm confused. Are you saying the payment left your account on the 17th instead of the 15th?0 -

Phoned housing, they said they have it in their account

Direct Debits take three days to be processed: http://www.bacs.co.uk/Bacs/Businesses/DirectDebit/Collecting/Pages/GettingStarted.aspx.
If the procedure began on the 15th it should have completed on the 17th. But if the transaction details were entered in to the system late, it will take extra time to complete. And Direct Debits aren't paid at the weekend, so they payment may leave your account on Monday.
Some organisations will credit your account (at their end) on the day they begin the Direct Debit process, which is what appears to have happened in your case.
You shouldn't worry about it. You have checked they have the correct details. Direct Debits don't always leave an account on the day they're due. Most organisations say it will happen shortly afterwards or within three (working) days.0 -

An example of this is my Capital One credit card. The Direct Debit was due on 17th May. When I check my Capital One account the payment has been credited to it, however when I check my online bank statement the money is still in my bank account.0 -
Cleared and available? In that situation I'd expect to find that the bank had actually declined the payment and I was going to be hit with charges at both ends. When I check my Capital One account the payment has been credited to it, however when I check my online bank statement the money is still in my bank account."It will take, five, 10, 15 years to get back to where we need to be. Is the DD mandate showing in the DD list in your online banking?lukieboy96 wrote: »They have checked details which are correct."It will take, five, 10, 15 years to get back to where we need to be. Nah. There are plenty of funds in the account and the Capital One DD is only for £5.30.
Some organisations assume the DD payment will be received unless/until they're notified otherwise. I've seen it happen a few times before.0 -
Yes, they can be shown as received when they haven't been taken, but the question is, why hasn't it been taken? Some organisations assume the DD payment will be received unless/until they're notified otherwise.
