Your employment with the company was terminated in the middle of June. Time has passed. Changes have occurred since you left. It is not unlawful for a company to allocate duties as it thinks best.

Have renovo been helpful in working with you on your jobsearch?

yes im well aware that time has passed but the person that came in with a more technical mind which they wanted should be doing that job as well, it seems strange that the manager who has been there 5 months now has his wife doing my old job surely if that role is redundant how can you employ someone else to do a redundant job?
it just shows that if a company wants you out after 12 years then the law is on their side, what ever the job title is.

renovo dont help you with job searches they tell you the best places to go, its not rocket science, most places go through agency's so they then do the shortlisting.

Have you spoken to CAB to get some legal advice on your position. This will give you your options and a time-line. Going into a dispute should not be done lightly because it's not easy as some would make out.
    Consider
Do you want to work for a company that treated you this way?
Do you want to dwell on the past or go forward to the future?
Can you move on and still cope with taking the legal action?
Can you get help and support from anyone?

Don't be thinking going onto benefits, be thinking new opportunity for yourself, you'd like to use the situation to find something much better to do and where you will be valued, which may involve going onto benefits whilst you re-train and get set up. Going onto benefits without an end goal in place is likely to zap you confidence and self worth after the experience you have just had.

Do I think you've been treated badly Yes and from what you've said I suspect the re-organisational job spec was probably written with your ex manager's wife in mind. Were you singled out, possibly or perhaps when your ex- manager wanted a job for his wife that the one he thought would be good for her. You will never know. It's going to be their loss and their problem if she's not going to be as productive. Even if she isn't as productive they are not going to admit they were wrong and offer you the job back. Don't waste your energy on something you can't change.

Get legal advice and understand all your options. Are you in a Union?

If taking legal action is going to keep you in the past this may impact your health and jeopardise your future. If you can move forward and set the legal action in motion without it draining your energy then it's an option for you.

Alternatively you can put all your energy into finding a new opportunity for yourself maybe even start your own business in which case the Start Up Britain and Enterprise Nation websites might be worth looking at. Start Up Britain is running seminars around the country so you might want to attend just to hear what is going on. Again options. There's a lot more going on out there than you might at first think if you're prepared to be proactive and involve yourself. See if you need some retraining and go do something new.

If you don't decide for yourself what you want and go after it then you'll be wasting valuable time.

I tried to stay in my job when things went wrong and I had been doing it for much longer than you. It made me ill. Recovery has been a long road because I did decide to take action. I am now moving forward having started something I want to do for myself and no more bosses ever.

It's a different challenge and my legal action is still dragging on and very painful to address. I hadn't appreciated just how difficult it would be but none the less, I still believe this decision was the best one for me. I did look for all my options and can say that whilst working for someone else I hadn't appreciated what is out there and my only regret is that I didn't leave earlier.

I had a difficult year last year after I left and a bit of lean Xmas but it was a year with a plan and met lots of new people with positive attitudes and things are a lot better.

Success is the best revenge and you'll never be looking back!

When you left in June the work which constituted the job you had been doing was changed and this had led to the redundancy. The fact that, since you left, there have been changes in how work is assigned doesn't change the situation as it was when you left.

I'm clearly not a lawyer but I do not see that there is any legal action you can take - at least not action where you would win.

As you are looking for work after 12 years with one company - I hope the outplacement organisation helped you analyse your skills and provided some guidance on CVs (more than one) and interview techniques.
