hi no other posts are being affected and i asked why couldnt i be trained to do the new job and they just kept saying that they need someone else for the job.

also i will get some redundancy amounting to about 11,900, my wife gets working tax credit as im the only worker, what can i claim for ie housing benifit, council tax, jsa as i rent from the council.

i have never been out of work so this is a learning curve.

hi they said they need a person with a mechanical background to do the job and as i have not got this they said my job would be made redundant and they will offer it for someone outside the company.
i have been in this job for 12 years and have been asked by several managers to do several jobs within the company ie purchasing, run campaigns, shop floor production, stores, warehouse, stock takes, internal auditing so in concerned why i have been singled out with all the help i have given others

"Mechanical background" is rather woolly. Do they have a person specification which spells out what they want? How long would it take for you to acquire this "background".

You say that you have undertaken a number of different roles during your 12 years. That suggests you are adaptable and have "background" in a number of areas. Are there no vacancies in other areas? If you are capable of doing any of the other jobs (even where there are not vacancies at the moment), the redundancy pool could be wider than just you.

i have had a weeks holiday and have been told by a friend that they have been interviewing for the new position externally, i enquired that there have been other organization changes in other departments and why was i the only one being made redundant, they just said no other redundancies are being made.

as i work in the office there was 1 job on the shop floor with a lot less money so i couldnt accept that as it was just a labours job and i couldnt survive on that money.

There seems to be more to this than is being disclosed. To dismiss someone with 12 years' service isn't that cheap and they appear not to be considering "bumping" where they could have looked at someone with less time in the organisation and therefore less costly to dismiss on the grounds of redundancy

Is there any reason that you can think of which leads to this situation?

what i have told is the truth why would i ask questions on here giving you false information it would be no good to me having your answers.
i have no idea why this has happened, in the last five months they have increased my work load by approx 2/3 where they have taken on more external engineers for which i have to process their job reports, i have had several meetings with my boss saying that i can only do what i can do in a day, im the sort of person to raise something before it gets completely out of control.

the new job spec they want is completely impossible for 1 person to do on his own, i should know i have been doing it for several years.

I meant "disclosed by the employer".

As anamenottaken states there does appear to be more to this.

A new role has been created which encompasses your job plus extra work.

Your employers have given you no opportunity to apply for or train for this new role.

    Is that right?

Do you have their policy on redundancy and if so have they followed it to the letter?

    hi

yes they have not offered me train for the position, they gave me a 30 day consultation period, i will be having a meeting today at 11 to say they have not found me anything else and i suppose today will be bye bye.
they have given me a 3 month help with an outplacement company helping with cv and work search they are called renovo.uk.com.
they havent really asked me to do any other role.

i will be entitled to 3 months pilon, 14.5 weeks stat redundancy, 9 days for june and 2 days holiday.

i just feel someone has taken a dislike to me and they want me to go, it just seems after 12 years of doing the jobs and 3 1/2 years doing this role (after they asked me to do it) they want someone different.
