ok, I unchecked it (there was a message on the taskbar I hadn't seen..derp) and also deleted the other trojan that was flagged too..
Do I need to scan it again?..or post a report?..

    What was that one?

Post the report if you can.

That's ok - as I said, they were benign anyway.

So, are you happy it's running relatively well now? (Boot into normal windows)

Yes, that's ok. It wasn't particularly dangerous to the system now (It had already done it's damage when it helped infect the system), as it was in the Java cache - which we would have cleared in due course.

    So - how's it running?

It will be. I was speaking more from a malware/infected point of view. All the scans etc look good from that perspective, so if it seems ok other than the general slowness I'm sure we can get the best out of it by getting rid of some of the bloat that remains.

Bear in mind it only has 512mb RAM so it's never going to be the fastest unless you upgrade that.

Seems ok, windows security essentials is all re-enabled. I don't think I'd know if anything else was there unless I scanned it with something again.

(also, while I remember, I have some spare memory from an old (but slighter newer than the scaleo p) machine. How will I know if I can put it in the scaleo p. What would I have to check for in terms of compatibility?

You'd probably be experiencing some kind of problem; pop-ups, redirects to strange sites, unknown programs running, your realtime AV scan complaining etc.

    Uninstall this:

    Adobe Flash Player 10 ActiveX

Then using Internet Explorer, get the latest flash.

Then post a new HijackThis log.
