Best SIM only deal for my kids. Confused!

Right I had this sorted but now I'm confused again LOL
They were happily on giffgaff £5 /month ulimited texts only ( and free gg to gg that covered calls to me etc)
This goody bag has gone. THe current £7.50 is a 50% increase so rather annoys me and makes me feel like moving tbh!
A 12 month deal with 3 at £6.90 seems good, but do I wan tto contracted to 3??
Virgin have a similar deal with more data For £7
Ovio might do for te younest but it's no many texts on the basic deal and £15 up front now seems too much...
What do you suggest?
Thanks

I'd go with tesco as they cap the contracts, very wise if you decide to give your child a contract sim. I think they do a £10 deal just now w 500 mins 500mb data and 5000 texts0

Three also cap accounts as well. Also why are you advising the OP to pay 100% more than she currently does? This is a money saving site
Grumbler is right. We need an indication of what they actually use on the phone. How many minutes did they use to call you? How many texts did they send? Data?0 -

Hmm, I was warned off 3, as it seems they promise to cap, but then forget to apply it, then chase for high bills when a user goes over tariff.
Another vote here for Tesco. Yes it is more than the OP has been paying, but if there aren't any deals which gives her what she needs for £5, she will have to pay more to get what is required. OP, Tesco do free calls tesco-tesco too, and you can look at PAYG tariffs or they do 1 month contract tariffs.I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say.0 -

1 users experience does not = everyone has the same experience.
Only if more than enough people (say 30%) have the issue does it become an issue. You get a text from Three when your account is capped so you know that it is. At least that's what happened with me.
But anyway, the fact is that it's either pay as you go, or a capped contract which only Tesco and Three provide. Three being the cheapest in this case.
But i can't make a recommendation until i have enough info to go on.0 -
Would it be worth all of you moving over to Ovivo? The £15, whilst not an inconsiderable sum, does go on as a credit on your account, it's impossible to over spend more than £15 initially and top ups start at just £5. Whilst Ovivo to Ovivo calls/texts are free they do come out of any free allowance you have but continue to be free even after your monthly allowance has dissipated, if you get what i mean. Also look into ways of using the pretty generous 500mb of data per month (twice that of the GG £7.50 goodybag for instance) to make free calls/texts using services like Whatapp and Viber.0

Could you not get the kids (and their friends) onto instant messaging instead of texting?
If they have smartphones they can download Whatsapp and send unlimited messages for free (other than a tiny amount of data) to others who also have Whatsapp.
You could put them all on Ovivo and suggest that they use instant messaging for most of their "texting" (other than the free allowance) unless they wanted to pay for extra texts with their pocket money.0 -
I have done a lot of research into these sim only deals and came to the conclusion that GiffGaff really do offer a lot for the money, £7.50 really is a bargain for what you get and I have also personally gone on to the £10 tariff and bought an iPhone 5, works out cheap over a couple of years and unlimited data.0

You don't get those three together on GiffGaff?

Clearly not enough research - u/l data deals start at £12/mth with GiffGaff. And I'm not convinced any 'deal' that includes an iPhone 5 could ever be classed as 'cheap'. Now the Nexus 4 plus £10-£12/mth GiffGaff goodybag could be considered 'cheap'0
