When did you guys receive the letter? I'm on this tariff but haven't heard anything yet.
I'm also amazed people think it was fixed as it clearly states it isn't. It's just NPower's bog-standard 'cheap online' tariff. I switch to the latest version of this each year.0 -
Hi
I wonder if you really have to call them direct or just switch through the energy helpline or Uswitch etc.
Regardless, I think with mine I will call them and let them know I am leaving then immediately do the switch via the comparison site. The Npower letter states that the new supplier must send npower the notice of transfer 15 days within me phoning Npower so I hope that gives time for the process to happen.
I am just annoyed with Npower in general. I went to switch to this tariff in November last year and it took until the end of Feb for them to complete and backdate my switch after lots of calls and complaints from me. Npower were on a hiding to nothing with me in the first place because of that.
I'll monitor this thread closely.

You are lucky to have it opened in February :-)
I requested my switch via their website in November 2012, They entered wrong opening Electricity readings TWICE and I still do not have my gas account :-) Their Executive Complaints team was sorting my complaint for 2,5 months, with no progress, then they just disappeared, just stopped responding to emails and online forms.
I have an ongoing complaint about Npower with the Energy Ombudsman. I hope the Ombudsman can kick them square in the nut products :-)0 -
Only 6 months before I can switch.0

When I signed up to the tariff in November 2012 I could not believe that they were putting me on a tariff which was cheaper than my existing. At the time NPower had announced 9% increases but they did not apply the increase to the Online January 2014.
Now they are doing so, but not to other tariffs
.
It is typical of NPower-they publish a very good tariff which comes out on top on the comparison sites then, after thousands of people have switched to it, increase the prices.0 -
I have just received the letter, and also called Npower as I too was under the impression that EO Jan 14 was fixed. The cust service lady said that there was a lot of confusion about the tariff, and that they had been issued with memo's regarding what to do when people call.
Basically, if you swap within Npower, no exit fee's or charges, and if you move to another supplier, again, no charges or exit fees.
They offered me EO Aug14 as this is fixed, but that's ok providing they put the prices up beyond the rates that the tariff is set at. In a sadistic way, you are hoping they increase so that you benefit.
They have you over a barrel. We are low users, and our average bill 18 months ago was £450, now it's just over £600, and this is with me continually opting for the supposed "cheapest tariff." My big bug bear is the standing charges, as these are a killer, especially as you pay it regardless of actually using the gas / elect.0 -
I too switched to this tariff as I was told it was fixed. I am glad I am not the only person who was shocked to receive this letter today.
Unfortunately I am looking to buy a house in the next few months so am not in a position where I can take out another fixed rate tariff as I will be definitely wanting to move property before the end of my contract and will be subject to an exit fee.0 -

Yes you are. No you won't. A house move voids your contract without penalty. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
I too swapped to npower in Novemenber due to there January 2014 offer. I dislike companies who take advantages of peoples confusions/lack of understanding. It is already well noted in Governement that these energy comapanys make if difficult for everyday customers to understand the tariffs they offer and this seem to be a very underhanded move by Npower. I for one will see out my contract and upon completion will never use them again. I should have stayed loyal to EDF and I hope eveybody who has received this letter does the same. You can take the consumer power back by never using them again!0

Another mug here too I'm ashamed to say. This letter came as a huge shock to me also.
Even if I have to pay the £60 dual fuel penalties by switching I may save more I'm thinking and I'll be glad to ditch n power because of this sneaky so called "deal"[STRIKE]30:22[/STRIKE]
