Your signature is immature and pointless.

How does tht contradict anything? All I'm saying is that with or without a court order, they can still get someones (note I never explicitly said you/yours in my first reply) address details for an investigation if there is SUSPICION. You are the one saying they can only do so if a crime HAS BEEN COMMITTED. There is a difference. I have contradicted nothing.

Rather not, can't you just remove the signature instead?

I find it immature and sad if I'm honest. Just drop the sig, forget the warriors and move on.

I could get your ISP with just your IP address. IP addresses are publicly registered to individual ISPs. Anyone can do that - it's called a whois lookup. What they can't do is get your personal details FROM THE ISP. The police however CAN. Yes they may need a court order but they only need to prove their suspicion and they'd get one.

If someone posts a video on youtube of something illegal or posts a comment somewhere claiming they did x,y,z then thats evidence enough for suspicion.

Like I said, just drop the sig mate. You're clearly upset by what happened in that thread but its childish to keep it in your sig. The authorities CAN and WILL get address details of anyone they want.

report the sig to MSE, and ill take it down when i am instructed to do so not on your say so.

    im not your mate.

i disagree with 3/4 of what you say but for the sake of not playing titfortat i'll leave it at that.

I've seen this done before with an ex-police E39 that had holes in the roof (for the light bar etc). It was cheaper to wrap a repair than to properly repaint it.

Resurrecting an 18 month old thread just to advertise a company? Nice.

It hasn't been a complete waste of time.

I've just read the whole thread for the first time, and discovered that there's someone out there whose ambition is to emulate Peter Andre! Frightening.

I concur, I may have learned something today.

Does this mean that when barry boys advertise a s*** car for sale, stating that it's been 'wrapped in matte black'; they HAVEN'T just attacked the car with a rattle can? Because that's usually how it looks.

I agree, I saw an R8 on Park Lane, it ruined a nice looking car, the number plate must have been worth a few quid though...SH31KHS

That registration number isn't due to be issued until 2031.

Un the past, though of also wrapping my car. There is such a thing as clear wrap and is apparently slightly thicker too. The aim is a perspective coating to the paint. I'm happy with my cars colour, but thought a bit of protection and extra rustproofing layer would be good.

The downside from what I was reading that it seems to last around 3 years
  • I'm not a fan of clear bra's or full clear wraps.

    1. If the installer doesn't first do a really good job of cleaning the surface of the paint before installation, then your locking whatever finger print (skin oils) or atmospheric contaminants under the clear bra or clear wrap.

    2. incorrect installation can cause damage over longer periods of time. Locked in moisture due to a small medium or large air bubble can cause the lacquer to peel to lift off with the wrap upon taking it off, The material is designed to absorb insect debris and dust if not cleaned regularly, this then turns the wrap milky white after a while, when this happens it means moisture is building under the wrap damaging the paint if left on there.

Ive seen the mess wraps leave when removed, it takes some doing to get the surface of the paint to look right again, and some wraps even though advertised as non residue, glue is glue at the end of the day you will get a film layer of it to remove when it has been removed, trouble is upon removal dirt and dust collects on it, and then your polishing that into your paint putting swirls in it.

clear or not some insurers and underwriters wont insure a wrapped car.

A neighbor has a Ford Focus limited edition with a factory matt black wrap. Ive watched him washing it. He is fastidious but showed me how hard it is to get a good finish after washing because when drips of water dry they leave marks, even rain water dries and leaves visible marks.
  • Dont waste your money. Matte Black scratches and stains very easy. And remember you cant go through a car wash with Wrap no matter what they say. If any little amount of water gets underneath its games over.

Get a body shop to professionally spray paint matte black.
