I wonder if insurance company's see it as a mod, Might be something worth checking. Better being insured than not.

Insurance companies probably see putting a coke in a tea/coffe holder as a modification, they don't need any excuses:(
If they see this as a modfication, then it could be argued that using a non manufacturer specified polish on paintwork is a modification.

Pretty sure coating bits of your car in carbon fibre wrap would be counted as a modification, would imagine it could make it more appealing to car thieves (joy riders) too.

Painting your car a different colour is regarded as a mod by some insurance companies so I suspect a wrap would be too.

I had a Smart convertible a while back which I had wrapped. It was originally dark blue metallic and I had it wrapped cream and pink with logos on....

Julie - did your insurance go up?

PS: I have seen pics of an R8 wrapped in chrome vinyl and that looked amazing:T
I saw in person a 911 cabriolet in chrome and it looked terrible, truly awful.
    It completely ruined the car.

Actually I'm quite pleased this thread came up. I have a car thats not worth much but I wanted to transform it into a nice shiny jet black. To get it done in the paint shop would be around £2k. Never thought of a wrap!

    Nice one op!

I would have thought the newer 'sprayable' version would take over from the 'wrap' method

I agree, I saw an R8 on Park Lane, it ruined a nice looking car, the number plate must have been worth a few quid though...SH31KHS
