you already have by removing the inner case, the inside of this is considered part of the gas/flue train, maybe you should look at your MI pages 2 & 4 with regard to only using a gas safe reg installerI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

oh dear oh dear the fact that you consider me wrong just goes to prove that not only are you not compentant, but refuse to read what is written down in black & white by the manu & gas safe & the law in this country.
I hope that you have informed your family that you are putting their lives at risk by your total dis-regard to their safety, just because you think you know better, when you clearly haven't got the first clue what you are talking about.I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

I think the clue is in the title of the name
however just because the leak is water not gas it doesn't mean to say you aren't effecting the gas side of things which you have by removing the inner case

It will be a court that decide when the incident occurs, AND its the appliance in total that requires an RGI to carryout repairs, particularly as a water problem can directly affect the gas operation AND electrics also;)

why don't you read it for yourself the link is here
but here is a quote from the above link
Don't DIY with gas.
1 in 3 people say they would fit a gas appliance themselves to save money. In the right hands, gas is safe, but badly fitted and poorly serviced gas appliances can cause gas leaks, fires, explosions and carbon monoxide poisoning. You may think you know what you’re doing but it’s not like changing a tap; it’s dangerous to DIY with gas and could put your family’s life at risk.
It’s important that you don’t try to fit, fix or move gas appliances such as your boiler or cooker yourself. Only Gas Safe registered engineers have the right skills to do this safely. Gas Safe registered engineers retrain regularly to ensure they are up-to-date with new technology and appliances.I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
