You see they like something, you buy a lot (perhaps on offer) - they immediately go off that particular food
So never ever let them know/see
So true - in fact it should be a rule to never let the cat see the label - in case it doesn't meet their high standards!0 -

Never had that problem with my cats. In fact the only time they ever had a problem is when they were fed Felix in an emergency situation whilst I was ill. They vomited for days!
Mind you, Felix is nothing but junk food and if I spent a week eating nothing but junk food then I'm sure I'd also be vomiting everywhere lol“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
I'm with Gunsandbanjos. Mine love Bozita from Zooplus http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/cats/canned_cat_food_pouches/bozita.
Also Orijen as a dry treat http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/cats/dry_cat_food/orijen The Orijen looks dear but I worked out it was cheaper than Dreamies. I decant it into Lock and Lock canisters for ease of use and to keep it fresh.
What I like about them (apart from the price) is that you can see the list of ingredients on the website - no grain which can cause allergies - and the meat is just that - no ummentionable horrors that go into the brand leaders.
The cats haven't gone off the Bozita - there are lots of flavours to provide variety. They also look noticeably more healthy and shiny.__________________________________

I guess it's horses for courses as my cats absolutely hate Bozita and wouldn't touch it! lol However, I agree it's a decent quality food, certainly better than the more commercial brands you find in the supermarket, but so is Nature's Menu.
At least with Nature's Menu you can buy individual pouches to try but with Bozita there are very few stockists in the UK (I know of only one) so it would mean buying large quantities online and, if like mine thy hate it, then that's a lot of money to waste!“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

Yes, that's true. I remember thinking the very first time I ordered Bozita, "what if they hate it?". It's a pity that single tetrapaks can't be purchased.__________________________________

zooplus do trial packs for various foods, where you can try different varieties. Their food is cheaper if you buy large quantities (e.g. 24 cans), but it' useful to try out a few before committing.

Also make sure you give complete food and not complementary (e.g. applaws, highlife and encore are complementary, don't have everything a cat needs such as taurine).
My cat likes some animonda carny and smilla, they are both complete. animonda is much better quality, but for people on a budget smilla is great value for money and much better than supermarket food.0 -
Thanks for all the replies. I am going to try Bozita and Natures Menu and see what they think of that.
I sometimes give them foods for a treat such as prawns, cooked chicken, sardines, mackerel etc but 9 times out of 10 they turn their noses up at it!The world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie0 -

not a natural food for cats - but then neither is Chinese takeaway and both my previous cats adored it! I just used to pick the onions out and let them have the leftovers! its rather funny watching cats eat chow mein!0 -

Lmao, my cats are the same they eat things like that
. one especially eats anything and will beg for a bit of whatever we're eating. Even things like peas, pickle and cheesecake.

Same here and the occasional treat does no harm as long is it doesn't form part of their staple diet. However, I've yet to meet a cat to refuse mackerel/sardines in tomato sauce unless, they've been extremely ill, and I speak as a (retired) vet of 20yrs experience“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0
