Good wet cat food?

I have 4 cats, all of which are pretty fussy. I like to feed wet and dry, partly because I like them to have a variety and partly because 2 of them don't really like dry food!

I feed a mixture of pouches and tins. I find pouches work out pretty expensive and although for some reason they are more likely to eat them than they are tinned food, the often don't eat it and I end up throwing a lot away.

It's getting more and more difficult to find tinned cat food in supermarkets as they all stock mainly pouches and the supermarkets near me only seem to stock their own brand which I have never managed to get my cats to eat (tried Sainsbury's, Tesco's, Asda's, Morrisons's, Aldi's), whiskas, Butchers and Felix. They won't eat Butchers and will sometimes eat Whiskas and Felix.

I try hard not to let them be fussy but if I keep putting small amounts of food down and they don't eat it, after doing this for a few days I feel sorry for them as they keep crying for food.

Anyway can anyone recommend a decent food that doesn't cost the earth that they are likely to eat?

I have noticed my cats are exactly the same. You give them a new brand and they love it for a while, then they start leaving it and begging for more food. I guess cats are a bit like humans, they don't like eating the same thing day in day out. Maybe pick a few brands that they don't completely hate and just try mixing them up a lot so that they don't get used to one thing.

Nature's Menu - excellent quality wet food. They also do a raw version for cats too, although you might struggle to find that in your local pet shop. I have to travel about 40 miles to buy it so I make sure I stock the freezer. The normal cooked version is widely available in pet shops or online pet stores :)

If you buy the multipack you get all three varieties (x4 each) and cheapest is Amazon especially if you subscribe to regular deliveries ;)

My two kittens (7 months) like Whiskers tins of chicken, salmon, rabbit and duck. Chunks not supermeat. Also they like to alternate with Felix. They sometimes get pouches but aren't fussed between a tin and a pouch, we also give them fresh stuff like chicken breast, mackerel and corned beef (fresh not from a can) and beef etc.

I'm going to try them on Natures Menu, now I've seen it linked here :). It looks great.

when my son stayed with me for six months he stated that his cat would only eat Felix cat food. that cat ate Aldi pouches and the little trays mixed with their dry cat food with just the occasional tin of Felix! he seemed to enjoy the variety - of course he would have preferred what WE were eating - so some nights he had that too!

Have you also tried introducing them to dry food, it is good for their teeth. My cats always had problems with their teeth when eating wet food, this was drastically reduced when on dry. It doesn't go off, so quickly or smell. However, you have to make sure they have plenty of water down for them. I used to buy large 5kg bags from an internet vet, which saved me loads and they delivered to my door.

Every so often I would give them some liver/kidneys/chicken/fish but most of the time the food I gave them was dry. My moggies were happy :D

Sorry just read your post again, I'm afraid my cats (I had 4 at one time) didn't get much of a choice.

Just remember the most important cat food rule - when you buy in bulk, never EVER let the cats see you bought in bulk, only let them hairy... see one tin at a time

You see they like something, you buy a lot (perhaps on offer) - they immediately go off that particular food

So never ever let them know/see ;)
