I,ve made nigella,s chilli jam, I used bulk standard vinigar at 23p a bottle and it tastes fine.

I got some 250ml 'flip-top' kilners from d@nelm m!ll - not cheap and near £2 ea but as they are for Xmas prezzies I thought i,d better - I don,t think old marmite jars look as good ;)

I guess the posher jars do look gd, I've used some normal jam jars for jam for xmas (did buy 4 little ones for £1 from £1world), but any big jars I use, I'm going to cut a circle of fabric. xx

Thank u for the tip for standard vinegar - found nice recipie online for dried apricot and pear chuntey - takes my fancy xx
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx

Where do you get your bottles for the alcohol for presents. I would like to give sloe gin as presents but never found anything suitable to put it in.

I had a really strange moment in Town. I sat my 20 year old daughter down and asked her what she would like as a main present and she said a Pandora ring for £40 and would that be ok.. She never ever asks me for anything and knows money is tight so I agreed and we went to buy it.. The girl oozed money and clearly usually serves much richer folk than us!!! This was a BIG purchase for me and my daughter as before we were debt free we could never have done this...
The assistant said, is this ring for anything special? Christmas my daughter said, she looked as if we had 3 heads and said, Oh but you will be getting more things???? What on earth!!! I was annoyed that she tried to ruin my dream of buying a what in our eyes is a special thing. To her it was probably peanuts but to me it was massive!!:D

Aww, it was probably a way of her starting a conversation about other products in the store so she can persuade you to buy them! I agree it was poorly executed, she's probably on commission so part of her daily chat and didn't realise how insulting it would have sounded in isolation.

A few years ago I was in America and had seen a perfume I liked so OH said he would buy it for me. I went to the counter to enquire the sizes and the cost then went back over to OH, had a chat about it and I kissed him on the cheek as I normally would. Went over to the counter and asked for the smaller size and the assistant said to me "You should have kissed him longer he would have bought you the bigger one!" Way to make me feel like a prostitute!
