I definatley agree, as at the end of the day your a customer, and whether your spending £40 or £400 your giving them our money, xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
:mad:Hi Everyone. I went all round town today to try and find baskets or similar to make some presents but they seemed quite pricey, around 7 or 8 pounds and up.
I went in P**undland and found Charley Boormans book Long way Down, full of Beautiful photos etc, was 25 pound (and well worth it) and I got it for a quid!!! Bought it to put in my husbands present mound!
I had a really strange moment in Town. I sat my 20 year old daughter down and asked her what she would like as a main present and she said she had seen a Pandora ring for £40 and would that be ok.. She never ever asks me for anything and knows money is tight so I agreed and we went to buy it.. The girl oozed money and clearly usually serves much richer folk than us!!! This was a BIG purchase for me and my daughter as before we were debt free we could never have done this...
The assistant said, is this ring for anything special? Christmas my daughter said, she looked as if we had 3 heads and said, Oh but you will be getting more things???? What on earth!!! I was annoyed that she tried to ruin my dream of buying a what in our eyes is a special thing. To her it was probably peanuts but to me it was massive!!:D
Stupid shop assistant. I have been in company with all sorts of people but those who are the nicest are those that make you feel that you are the only person in the room. They are interested in what you say and do. She's just showing her own ignorance and lack of manners imo.0 -
LOL - She's a shop assistant - she's not oozing money - it's all show! There's nothing wrong with being a shop assistant, it's an honest living and I used to be one: it can be blooming hard work sometimes, especially with pressure to secondary sell extra things to people who don't want them. But the job is not to make customers feel bad for doing the company the favour of parting with your money.
That really is about her not you, or the amount of money you have spent, so I hope it hasn't spoilt a special gift from you to your daughter.
i would definitely write to head office expressing your disappointment, the clear training issue and mention it's put you off the whole brand.:AA/give up smoking (done)0 -
Thanks everyone who suggested jars. Kilner don't seem to do the exact size I want, other makes had some but they were far too pricey. The cheapest I can find were still Wilkinsons I think so I'll go back there and either get the screw-tops or just get the nearest size I can to the one I want and it'll do. I'm attempting Nigella's chilli jam. Has anyone made it by using some dry cider instead of cider vinegar like the recipe says? As cider vinegar's expensive I thought it might be possible to do it like that instead?
Annie99 - to that shop assistant, I say PFFT! Some people just don't seem to know how to behave!0 -
:)Thanks everyone! I'm writing to Head office to express my hurt at what was a special day.
Over the years I could only "look" into the doorway of the said P***or a shop and promised I would take my daughter in there. Like you said it should be like your the only person in the shop.. which we were!
As it happened it didn't fully spoil the day but that's mainly due to my daughter being just lovely and grateful.... x0/4500 -
Annie, glad you've decided to write to head office, your daughter sounds lovely and the shop assistant just sounds like she was having a bad day and trying to boost sales. but whatever was going on in her life its no excuse to spoil what was supposed to be a lovely experience for you and your daughter.
the cello and ribbon or wrapping paper covered box sounds a lovely idea for gift wrapping the nail gifts or how about a clear plastic 'glass' with cello and ribbon.
you can get those packs of disposable partyware so could use others to make mini gift hampers in.SPC~12 ot 124

Was in £stretcher yesterday for string and bungee cords (don't ask!)
OH spotted a display of snuggle socks, £1 each or £1.99 for three pairs. They deffo had adults, didn't look for kids sizes. Would probably work well in a hamper type thing some people are planning.
I must have been good, I was bought 3 pairs as a treat0 -
