Royal Mail Destroyed my Package

OH MY GOD!!!!! Be careful what you send in the post. I sent a parcel to my son in Denmark with some xmas pressys, few bits & pieces along with his bank card sealed in the envelope. It was returned to me on Saturday. Royal Mail screened it, ripped open everything including a birthday card and halifax letter. They removed some nail varnish which is fair enough because I've just found out it is prohibited but along with my sons bank card has disappeared. I have just had a lengthy phone call with Royal Mail who told me the card should not have been removed so I can only assume it has been stolen and anything that is removed from a parcel is not destroyed but sent to auction or disposed of, so not only have I lost £13 which it cost to send, someone else will be enjoying daughter in-law Christmas present. Oh and my son has no way of getting any money as we have had to cancel the card and he has to wait for another. Very hacked off.0

What is Royal Mail is doing may be ok in terms of legality ( after all they're getting away with a lot on the grounds of safety after 911 ) but it's unethical and affair. if they are not happy with an item they're free to destroy it but when you pay for a service you expect that service to be fulfilled or at least partly fulfilled. as long as an item is legal in the real world they shouldn't be in position to accuse you of committing a criminal offense(!?) or refuse to fulfill the service. They should destroy what they deem unsafe and send the rest of the order - or if they do not wish to send the order provide a full refund.
They should be taken to the European court over this.0 -
What in the name of all that is holy has it got to do with Europe?
Would that be the European Court of Justice or the Court of Human Rights?0
