I agree with this - I had a water bed for over 10 years, it was lovely. I've now got a pocket sprung with latex top. It's very very good, but just not quite as good as the water bed was.

I am looking for a replacement mattress and DH is swaying towards a memory foam topper for our current one. His dad has one and has lots of ailments but has found his topper really good. (He researched and made a good choice).

I however had heard of waterbeds before and had considered it but kind of thought it was just a 'gimmick'. Are there any specific makes to look out for? And are they easy to care for? I have images of leakages! And is there a reason you didn't get another?

    Thanks in advance!

Don't buy a topper for your current mattress unless it's quite a new mattress. As all memory foam relies on the stuff underneath it to actually support the body. Memory foam on it's own is NOT dense enough to support the body, it gives and it basically a good filling.

As for waterbeds, they are seriously fantastic, I'm own my second. No leakages, just a bag of water that isn't under pressure, so it'll never pop! If they is a small leak then the safety liner underneath will catch all the drips. Permanently heated turn it up in winter and down in summer, bliss.
