As you've been told, your problem is with looking4parking.com not Ryanair. As you've only contacted them once about it, I don't know why you're so keen to try and sue them for such a tiny sum - particularly as though you'd certainly get £16.99 back, I doubt they would have to pay the £55 you spend elsewhere. Wait for them to come to a decision and then decide what you want to do.
Callum, I just look at our fuel prices compared to elsewhere in Europe. The sum I want returning is £55. this may be a paltry sum of money for you, but it is not for me. I have had two mails from this company the second was much nicer and customer orientated, which happened after starting this topic.
I will update as to the outcome, many thanks for the replies.

10th most expensive out of 21 countries for petrol and the 4th most expensive for diesel.
On the "rip-off Britian" theme, things have certainly got better over the last 10 years or so, but you still see it in some areas, eg car prices (still - though getting better), walk-up public transport prices, hotel bars and room mini-bars, restaurants, parking charges (& "fines" - though better in England now clamping outlawed). But it is a lot easier to find good value in the UK than it was.
On the other hand some things which were traditionally much cheaper in the UK eg gas/electricity prices have also equalised more.0 -

Oh dear, rather a naive statement. If you had any inkling of how much you get stung by the major supermarkets your eyes would water. You tell me the last time one of the big 5 supermarkets posted a loss? Or the oil/fuel producing companies, or the energy companies. We will not talk about the coffee shop chains, mobile phone service providers, pay TV, etc.
The reality is that so far as the major supermarkets are concerned you are shafted every time you walk through the door. If you knew what you were paying compared to what it costs them, then I expect you would be singing a very different tune. And, if you take the time to examine how inefficiently they operate on the shop floor (possibly bordering on the fraudulent in many cases) then you can see that even the obscene profits they currently deliver could be improved significantly. So rip off is possibly too mild a term for them!
If you then think how Amazon, Google, Starbucks and the like have managed to avoid UK tax and you then apply that philosophy across the entire operation of similar organisations you may then get to understand how anyone who stands in the way of maximising profit is viewed as an un-necessary evil!

Prices (here in France) in Sterling per litre.
Unleaded Petrol 128.5p
Diesel 110.6p
LPG 67.5p YES! That's me!!!
Not sure how that compares with Poundland at present but prices around Europe are levelling up. They see what mugs in Poundland will pay and 'want some of that'
For prices in all of France see here. http://www.prix-carburants.gouv.fr/0 -

By the way OP, there is a difference between a rip off and a f&@k up. This is the latter.0 -
I had an email from the customer relations department today, they have apologised and have offered a full refund, that I am glad about, just thought I would update the thread
Thanks

Corrected - thank you. I wondered why I had dots left over!0 -

You are clearly the naive one... Tell me the last time one of the "big 5 supermarkets" in any country made a loss? Businesses making a profit isn't proof of being ripped off...
I know full well what I pay in relation to what it costs them, considering I've worked in one. I don't know the latest figures but in 2011 ASDA made £587m in profit on £21bn in sales. That's a profit margin of less than 3% and means that, on average, ASDA makes less than £3 profit on someone buying a £100 shop. Forgive me but that "obscene profit" they are making out of me hardly fills me with rage...
And I'm curious what these alleged "shop floor inefficiencies" are? Off the top of my head there isn't a lot they could do to make it more efficient - certainly not enough to save any significant sum of money.Callum, I just look at our fuel prices compared to elsewhere in Europe. The sum I want returning is £55. this may be a paltry sum of money for you, but it is not for me. What an absurd way of working out whether the entire UK is being ripped off! And unless you can provide figures that show, once tax is removed, UK fuel is significantly higher than other countries with a similar economy (otherwise you could say bread being 50p in the UK but 10p in Ethiopia is proof we're ripped off) I won't even believe it's true with regards to fuel.
Which was precisely why I said you're being far too premature with trying to sue them already!
EDIT: Though I'm glad you've now got your refund.0 -
Thanks Callum. To clarify I would not sue, I would use money claim online and claim for costs, as very easy to use. However the matter is resolved.
Regarding the UK being a rip off it was not to long ago those in the know bought cars in Europe as they were often 20% cheaper.
The scourge of 0800, 0870, carries on unchecked catching out our elderly and unaware, extended warranties on virtually everything we buy today, mobile phone tarifs when using abroad, 20% interest on store cards, airport departure taxes to name but a few! and not forgetting the Inheritance Tax ..... super work all your life pay income tax, save and pay tax on savings, die value your house that has taken 30 years to pay off and wham 40% back to the treasury, like it or not we get ripped off0
