The point is that if you are in an admin role, that is organising rotas, dealing with wages, paying expenses etc, which is what the job title "co ordinator" implies then you need not have hands on experience. Similar to a ward clerk not requiring nursing expertise.
I would have seen the job more akin to a ward sister who co-ordinates the nurses and carers but can when needed help out. A ward clerk or receptionist doesn't have anything to do with staff rotas, wages etc though. But a ward clerk could be expected to assist in basic HCA duties - for instance, assisting at meal times. No one is suggesting they should fulfil the role of a professional.
Not in my experience!Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

I feel for your friend. In hindsight, she should have asked about whether she would ever be expected to carry out personal care duties, given the nature of the work, but obviously she didn't set out to make that mistake.
I have no knowledge about employment law, but I can't see any harm in consulting Citizens Advice. It seems to me that she had a contract with her employer to undertake certain tasks in return for payment. Being asked to undertake tasks that are not in the contract would mean that they have broken that contract in my view. Having said that, all my contracts have included a section about undertaking any reasonable tasks, so that may be a stumbling block.
And whilst I have the utmost respect for people who do carry out personal care roles, there is no way I would do it either.0 -

No, but it is an admin role not a professional role.0 -
I do, thank you.
Her claim could be sanctioned if the request is deemed not to be an unreasonable one. Unless she can give a valid reason why the request was unreasonable (for instance, her own disability, as mentioned above), she could be deemed to have intentionally made herself unemployed.
Well, one must hope that you don't actually work in a role that actually requires you to deal with these rules as you clearly have no idea of the reality.
Don't you know about the concept of suitability for a role, coupled with a reasonable prospect of employment?
Are you just making up the claim that you have valid experience? Or do you really claim to have actual direct experience of dealing with jobseeker agreements? And if so, in what capacity?0 -
Hi everyone and thank you for the replies.
Yes basically she's been asked to so something beyond the scope of her job, as alot of you have mentioned. It's an admin post, so any additional duties should be within that role.
Personal care as they said, bathing, toileting and the associated cleaning that goes with that is not an administrators function, whoever they happen to be coordinating.0 -
i really does not matter she has no come back. she would have been in a probationary period and without 2 years of working then they can get shut of her.
the ward clerk would not be required to help at meals. not her job but some do lend a hand if its very busy.0
