And the point of that post is? What are you talking about? Are you calling for pro rata standing charges - ie every single kWh is charged at a tier 1 price? What is wrong with a wide range of choice - are you wanting to limit choice and MINIMISE the chance of finding a tariff suitable for you?

Choosing a tariff is NOT complicated. You need three pieces of data and thirty seconds of time.

I don't think so. You need to know a whole lot more than three pieces of data and pop on to a compare site. You could compare the recommended tariff just given and be told someone else is cheaper. All compare sites want is for you to switch and for them to collect their commission. Doing your own digging does take time but worth it in the end.

I took time and my last 3 monthly bill (for March, April & May) for both gas and electric is £70 all in.

My point was that you called the thread "Rip off Britain" but then when people pointed out that other countries around Europe are not particularly cheaper, you said that you meant that England is a rip off compared to Scotland, and you've given more examples of that.

So maybe you should have called the thread "Rip off England", or even "An investigation into the inconsistencies of energy charging within the UK". But "Rip off Britain" is typically used when claiming that we in Britain are generally being charged more than other countries so that is probably why people are confused as to what your point was.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks.

I see your point. I'm no reporter lol

Okay, implied codicil to my original statement: you only need three pieces of data and thirty seconds of time to determine once every three or six months whether it is worth spending another five or fifteen minutes investigating further.

I agree that comparison sites are only for comparing the market - they should rarely be used to make the actual application to switch.

I don't take my time and my annual bill [STRIKE]is[/STRIKE] was often less than £70.
