Too many miles for a 1yr old car?

The mileage is very unususl. A 1.4 fiesta should be used as a city csr. Not for motorway although it is possible that a buyer bought the car without realising that a larger car is probably better for them.

Also the first few service should be done more frequently than manufacturers spec dueto bbeing a new engine and all that so most of the filings will come off at the start. So I would want to see services done every 6 months

People suggest 10,000 miles a year is average.
However this was probably suggested about 10 years ago. Modern cars are (generally) more reliable and therefore those 10,000 could easily now be 15,000 as many people commute further to work these days.

Thanks for all the advice. I have now bought the car and am more than happy with it. The car was serviced at 12590 miles (in line with the manufacturers warranty requirements) and drives like a dream.

I'm not sure I would agree with you here. I don't believe a 1.4 fiesta should be used only as a city car at all. My previous car was a 1.4 fiesta and I used it to go everywhere. Thinking about it, I owned the car for 2.5 years and did 33,500 miles in it. They're an excellent car for motorways.

Yeah, I'd say 15,000 miles a year would be a maximum for what I would do in a year but hadn't got a clue what is generally considered the norm.

Unfortunately, the dealer I bought the car off had sent the logbook off without even a signature from me (not sure how that works) so will have to wait for that to come back before we see who owned the car previously.

Sounds a nice car, glad it's had that 1st service as that was my only concern.

The logbook issue sounds well iffy as you have to sign it upon purchase of the car. Is it a main dealer?

Thanks, yeah it's a main Ford Dealer. They just gave us the new keeper supplement and said the rest had been sent off.

My V70 does that. Though as so many Ford and Volvo parts are interchangable there is probably a reason for the similarity.

Let us know what MPG you get. It says 43mpg from the manufacturer but I am interested to know what you get in yours. I drove a VW Polo torque converter auto for 3 years until last year, I got a VW Golf 1.6 TDI DSG instead. The Polo was poor for fuel, says 40mpg but I doubt I was getting that, I was getting 315 miles from a full tank.

Will do but I doubt it'll be good. So far it seems pretty poor in terms of mpg but one I put a full tank in ill post back.
