Too many miles for a 1yr old car?
I'm looking at buying a new car (well 11 months old) and I've seen one that I really like at a main ford dealer. It's just the colour I wanted, got the spec and upgrades I wanted, but it's done 19,000 miles in 11 months.
Is this a high mileage for such a new car? Should I be wary? I'm assuming the miles will have been motorway miles mostly but anything I should ask the dealer?
I've never bought such a new car before (my current car is a 53 reg which I bought just under 3 years ago).
Thanks

It's high but not excessively so.
We bought new cars three and a half years ago and one of them has done over 65,000 miles now, my wife uses it for her business. But, most of it is fairly easy motorway work. I certainly wouldn't be concerned by that sort of mileageYou can pick your friends and you can pick your nose but you can't pick your friend's nose.0 -
What will make a difference is the type of car. Decent family motor, I would say what's the condition like? Has it been serviced properly? Assuming it is all good then no issues.
If it's a 1.0 runabout then it has had a bit of a hard life!
Is it a bit cheaper as a result of the miles? It is above average so this should be reflected in the price but, if you are not going to put too many miles one, it might be back to average when you come to sell it....What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -
If it's a Ford vehicle, I think most models now have a service interval of 12500 miles or 1 year (whichever comes first).
If that's the case, make sure the first service has been completed at the specified mileage.0 -
Thanks for the replies so far. The car is a 12 reg 1.4 Fiesta Titanium Automatic.
Price wise, it is about the same price as similar spec 2010-2011 fiesta's with lower mileage.
I will check on the first service but it is having a full service before I get it if I end up buying it.0 -
Make sure it has had that 12,500 mile service, otherwise the remainder of the manufacturers warranty could be invalid.
There was a member on here last month who was having warranty issues due to this.

Thanks, I'll give the dealer a call to make sure it's had the service. It was definitely advertised as having 2 years manufacturers warranty. Car is £9900.0

you might be able to get a new or prereg for around that price, if you don't want an ex hire car (sometimes they still have the stickers/paperwork in)- the previous owner details may give away the history!!

It's the spec that I'm bothered about really. It's the titanium automatic model which has a new list price of £16500 and that's before upgrading to the dab stereo, privacy glass, etc, which this car has. Plus, you can only get a 1.6 Auto Fiesta now and I wanted a 1.40
