People want cheap couriers. This is the result.
Most people with any experience of Yodel would rather pay an extra few quid for a reliable service.

When we used them to deliver for us they were largely OK, when they go wrong they do it in spectacular fashion and is difficult to sort out. We moved to Parcelforce for not much extra.

I think the biggest problem with Yodel is that they build in losses to their business plan so are quite happy that they remain at a certain level.

Thanks all for advice - unfortunately I did not have the option of which courier e-buyer would send the computer with - unfortunately it was Yodel!

    Have you phoned Yodel ?

I had a problem and the customer service guy was honest about things.

My parcel was a day later and we received a decent apology of the driver with a true explanation as to what had happened.

I spent almost an hour on hold today, before having to give up and get back to work. The tracking number now even shows up as an error! I have a feeling it won't turn up tomorrow either, on its rescheduled date!

I always thought they were called Yodel because their customer service department is a fat bloke on top of a mountain in Switzerland.

  • I always think of that dreadful quiz where the guy yodelled and fell off the end of the mountain he was going up , "cliffhanger" on the Price is Right! Just imagine that prop is your parcel , and is going to the same place as that geezer!

Had a card pushed through my door on 20th May and rearranged delivery for today.
Apparently Yodel ignored that and claim they tried to deliver and left cards. I never got them so I believe the 2nd and 3rd attempted deliveries were made up.

Complained on twitter and despite a messaging asking for details so they could help I've heard nothing back.

However, I just received a phone call from Yodel accusing me of lying and telling me I have to travel 50 minutes to the local depot if I want my parcel.

Told them I'd rearranged delivery after paying £5.95 and taken the day off work and the guy didn't seem to care.

Yodel are a joke and need to be boycotted! Where is the regulation around these type of companies?

I had a similar experience, was out so a card was put through the door, I rang up and arranged a redelivery for the next day and asked them to leave it in my safe place, I came home and found no item and no card. Called them up to be told the item was attempted to be delivered, I asked where the card was then and why had it not been left in my safe place as id requested, she told me the driver had been 2 minutes from my address. Told her there was no way he tried to deliver as he would of either left a card or the item as specified. Total joke of a company.

I think it depends very much on the area as to how bad the couriers are as it seems to vary wildly and many of them are just as bad as each other. Parcelforce in our area for instance is just total rubbish - we are served via their Nottingham depot where the manager is a complete **** and every delivery seems to be blighted by their same awful attitude. Yodel surprisingly is pleasant and reliable despite the dreadful experiences elsewhere - hope that hasn't put the kybosh on them now!!! as they have been ok around here!. CityLink are dreadful as well and thew worst of the worst seems to be MyHermes........

If only one could choose the courier company when buying goods - if you want cheap and awful, then pay MyHermes rates or pay a premium rate and get decent service.

Here Yodel are a joke and Myhermes are as bad - last time they left the packet at another address but wrote the wrong house number on the card!

I complain to the sender - they have a choice as to which service they choose to use.

    To update:

I ended up with the PC in the end. The guy turned up professing to have tried delivery several times and got something of an ear full - but he seemed content to accept it - it must happen for every delivery!

Thanks to RFW for the tip - I checked it over before signing - all ok, just 3 days late!
