Swapped a phone under contract, now it's broke!

I don't think you have a leg to stand on in terms of getting this repaired for free.
Usually warranties are only good for the original purchaser and if the phone is sold or swapped, the new owner cannot claim on it (unless the warranty says something to the contrary).
As others have said, the gumtree person doesn't have to do anything about the phone as presumably was sold as is? Or did he claim it worked fine and the charger failed the first time you tried to use it?
Swapping expensive phones with someone you don't know is high risk:eek: Even if the phone works fine for a few months, it can get blocked if the seller subsequently reports it lost or stolen in order to claim on the insurance. It could also be a genuinely stolen phone that you've acquired
Sometimes blocking can happen if the seller doesn't keep up payments on his contract0 -

That is what i was trying to get across plus the fact that Samsung have a limited warranty that may not apply to a second user .

Samsung don't have to know that you're not the second user.0
