    Hi dawny,

Not sure but they said it would need to be within the next couple of years. Basically they want me to manage as long as I can as they don't like to do it on a younger person due to cost really as knees generally last about 10 yrs. I'm not in a rush to be honest, scared to death but don't think I will be able to hang on for that long!

Sorry to hear your news Julie but good that you sound upbeat and positive. As you say there are people worse off. Hubby sounds really supportive too so you have good people around you. You WILL get to the country too Im sure of it.:)

    Morning all,

We definitely will. I'm visualising lots at the moment, hopefully it will help.
Today dh has a full days work which is good. I've spent the morning listing on eBay and packing up some parcels ready for posting.

Some good news, my youngest boy did his work experience at a big hotel in Manchester, he is just in the middle of A levels. Anyway he made such a good impression they have invited him back for an interview for a weekend concierge post. He is thrilled, fingers crossed. This will really help us as well as we won't have to subsidise him the way we do now, it should really help us all so positive vibes for Tuesday.

I'm planning something with mince tonight, either chilli or cottage pie, not sure yet and home grown onions out of the garden. We also picked lots of fresh peas yesterday so they have been frozen and should last most of the year. I can't wait until my baby corn are ready, but think we've finally come to the end of the strawberries, they were lush though.

I need to start thinking about Christmas pressies, I try to start in August if possible and just get things as and when I see them. This year should be a lot easier as I've informed my 3 brothers and their families that we are just doing cards this year, long story but we either get nothing or something without any thought, it also stresses everyone out. They all seemed relieved so it means I can concentrate on just my kids and partners and grandchildren, plus mum and dad.

I've been looking at smallholdings, some of the rents seem reasonable with quite a lot of land as well. Bit scared about renting but due to our credit rating we won't get a mortgage at the moment, plus the money over from the house sale would pay off the debt we have.
Still everything a on hold until our youngest starts university so a couple more years of planning and saving yet!

Has anyone else rented after always owning their own home. Dh is really scared by this, he is very private and worries someone else will dictate what we can and can't do, but I'm sure some renters do so very successfully.

Anyway better get cooking bye for now x

I started to think about moving to the country a few months back, then realised the cost of houses compared to mine. Now I am thinking about moving country to the country, just could not believe the house prices:

I know Warwicktiger, prices are shocking. They reduce if you go to somewhere really remote but of course there is no work.
I do want to stay in the uk though if possible.

I would even consider buying a large mobile home but one of things I think I would love would be a narrow boat, I know totally impractical especially with my mobility problems but hey ho one can dream.

No I think a small house or cottage would be more realistic. I don't know where we will end up but I know one day we will do it.

House prices are mad here. I have friends up north who show me 4 bed gorgeous houses that are the same price as small 2 bed terraced houses with courtyard gardens here!

Good luck with it all :D

    Good morning all,

A lovely sunny day here which always lifts my spirits.

I've just subscribed to Your thread Orangefairy, can't believe how well your doing.

I'm currently staying out of the way as my son and his gf are filming in my kitchen! She is a producer for a company that sell kitchen products and as there studio is being refurb end they are using my kitchen, very interesting I must say.

My youngest boy Danny has an interview this afternoon so fingers crossed. I'm going to send him for a haircut, I don't think his massif quiff will do him any favours :rotfl:

Going to pinch Orangefairys idea and begin my 101 things to do list. I've got seven items on eBay at the moment, no bids but quite a few watchers.

I've also decided to apply for PiP, this is person centred payment. My GP has encouraged me to apply for the mobility component as I currently can't get out of the house as I can't walk anywhere and can only go in the car if hubby drives. The only way I could drive myself is if we had an automatic. I'm really nervous about this but I guess it's there for people like me.

Collected some more onions out the garden last night so won't need any when I go shopping on Friday. I do love Aldi and its been named as supermarket of the year again.

Anyway of to have a read through the diaries, have a good day all x

    Hi Julie,

Thank you - it was good to see you over on my diary.

You really should do a 101 things list! I think it really motivates me and can be a lot of fun :D

I hope your sons interview went well - fingers crossed.
