I am looking into this and I qualify.
will there be any tie in to a contract? or can I pay for any maintenance to who I want?

Be extremely careful you understand the terms and conditions.
In many cases, you may will end up with an expensive boiler that will never effectively pay back. Under some schemes, you will have to pay the cost back over time, with interest from benefits.
Replacing a working boiler is, except in exceptional circumstances, rarely worth it from a savings point of view.
Any savings will be modest at best for most, in the 5-10% range.
In some cases, less.
What specific scheme would this boiler be offered under.0 -

applied on-line and got a call back and was told British Gas would be in touch within 2 weeks0 -
It's offered under the Energy Company Obligation scheme. No repayments to be made. Totally free.
If the company organising the install wants a maintenance contract, then go with someone else. There's plenty of firms out their offering the free installs.
If you want to buy a maintenance contract, you should be allowed to source this for yourself.0 -

Glad to see someone joined a forum to ask for advice and instead of waiting for it just went ahead.0 -

if it's free & you don't have pay anything towards it how are you getting "tucked up"
are we paying for a new kitchen for you as well then ?I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
Hi, I got a free boiler under the 'Warmfront' Scheme, but it took quite a while for them to deliver/install it (6 months?), but this was a while back, maybe 2004/5, they also fitted loft insulation and door/window seals, all completely free, no nasty surprises.
My parents also had a boiler installed by Warmfront, again, no nasty surprises.
But since then I've been told (I think by the CAB), that Warmfront don't offer this service anymore.
However, I have received a couple of different flyers thru the door recently, with different company names, and different scheme names on each, and 'Accredited by xyz' varying logos.
I was worried about these, as there were spelling mistakes on the flyers, the 'accredited' people didn't exist when Googled, and when I sent an email to one (a private email, not a company email), it bounced. The other flyer didn't have an email address but an 0898 type premium number, so I didn't bother trying.
The reason why I'm a little vague about these flyers is because they stunk of being a scam, and went in the bin. The reason I checked them out was because I have a slight fault on the Warmfront boiler, but they are uncontactable. The number I have for them just refers me to the boiler manufacturer, and they just say tough, out of warranty.
So check them out, good luck if they are legit.0 -
your warmfront boiler (which will be either a icos or isar) was only warrented for two yrs after that you are on your own, try a local RGI or if it's a major prob then a fixed price repair from Ideal will prob be cheaper than BG
yes CAB are correct the warmfront scheme has finished although they still have a few thousand jobs left to doI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

It's a Ravenheat LS80, and it's the divertor valve microswitch thats bust. Can live with that, just means CH & HW both come on, rather than one or the other.0 -
our boiler is over 12 years old,and going tits up plus we want a new kitchen
Good to know that in times of austerity the taxpayers money is so well directed.0
