Thanks, I will sow some more tonight and keep indoors, mine are too cold outside then as per packet instructions...........

Thanks for the tip about the roots, I'm pleased I'm not too late :)

My french beans have zero germination .........think that I was too early, given the weather.

I might try to sow some more but start indoors? Or am I too late now? I can't keep up :D

My peppers and chillies were a no show, just soil taking up space in the propagator :o. I have been looking at seeds online. I might buy a plant but I like to grow from seed.

Thanks patsypickles, I shall have a look at the seeds :)

I have had similar failures some years, it's a combination of soaking wet conditions and too little warmth imho;)

We have a real nursery as against a modern day garden centre nearby, I try to visit a couple of times per month so I know them well.

They said the year was the worst they's had for many years, no sales virtually from Oct to the end of Apr, but the big upturn was the amount of vedge plants sold in Apr and to experienced gardeners that had found themselves about 5 weeks behind with their normal seed rearing programme after germination and slow growth issues.
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

Fab weather today and fab day as two of my french beans seeds are germinating (outside) Yay!

    Everything is growing now :)

Only failure so far is the chillies which, as suggested by Lief, I have bought a plant. i feel like I've cheated, hehe. I hope that I don't kill it off :D

I have bought some blood fish and bone, do I mix that into the ground before I plant my veg plants in? Can I use it for all my bed grown veg?

    Thank you :)

Thanks pinkcandyflossprincess, I have more questions too..................

In answer to your question, with my very limited knowledge, I'd say give it a go, I think that you have time :)

My courgette plants, sweetcorn and pumpkins have really grown on windowsill. I don't know if they have got a bit leggy or if its common practice to re pot the plants into larger pots before taking them out to harden off?

It's all happened at once :o, my french beans are doing really well, just not sure where, when to plant out or how to prep soil yet.

So many questions and googling to do as I can't hog the forum with questions (unfortunately :D). I'm not sure if I should disturb the roots by repotting and then shocking them with the outdoors?
  • Thanks.. popped some seeds in a pot:)
This weather is just horrendous, one minute you are on a lounger, next minute you are hunting out coats and jumpers:eek:
My plants dont know what is going on, total mistake planting out but my house had become full of courgettes, tomato, chilli plants etc...took a chance..now regret it. the only thing that shows signs of life is my strawberry plants (fingers crossed that i havent just cursed them as well!!!)
Im gutted as one of the courgette plants was huge, like a triffid, you could hear the thing drinking:rotfl: my daughter age 8 was gutted too as that was the one I let her have to look after.
Some italian type beans seem to be growing ok... planted peas 3 times now but not come up:(
Tomatoes are still alive.ish but not looking too good...just praying they make it as makes me sad when they die:o

I wouldn't bother repotting them at this stage, I think they normally do best if sowed directly in the row, although this obviously gives a later crop.

Back on the subject of courgettes, I only usually grow 1 plant and that's in the greenhouse. We don't particularly like them for eating, but the yellow varieties are such an atrctive and large plant, that I like just the 1 for display

Looks like the start of powdery mildew again this year inspite of having milk sprayed it from about 4 leaves, anyone have the same issues and more importantly a solution?.
Too dry conditions is the cause, I think
