Courgettes

Rolstherat - you have time to sow some more though?
Luckily it seems that my latish sowing has coincided with the late 'summer'. My seeds still have a little way to go and won't be going out for at least a couple of weeks yet. I'm hoping that that's okay as I read that we are 4 weeks behind growing season?
The temp has been dropping quite low overnight here too although no frosts.0 -
Havnt sown mine yet. too cold. I tend toplant courgettes and french beans mid-June. I live in the midlands uk.0

I have done, but I think a mouse ate the seeds, they were dug up and the seed shells had been emptied. I have planted some more ....0 -

Ummmmm....it does sound like a feast has been had
My cat is a great deterrent of mice and rats, however, having sown my lettuce, chard, spring onions and radish a while ago, in containers, my cat came along and dug the whole lot up  I had to re do
I now have them sealed away from his furry little paws
Good luck with the second batch0 -

Thanks old tractor, I have french beans in seed trays in cold frame but no sign of any germination, maybe I'm too early!
I have worked out my two week turnaround time for hardening off my courgettes, pumpkins, sweetcorn etc, which are in different time batches as I didn't sow enough and in propagator so I am looking at a few weeks at least till planting out. I'm reassured that I am not too late though
My pumpkin seeds are growing at completely different rates even though they were sown exactly the same time and way :cool:0 -

Any other normal year then no, you aren't, but this is no normal year;);)
I rarely grow courgettes, for me they have little use, but i did try a few last year.
Powdery mildew is the main issue if grown indoors ie the greenhouse, don't have all the answers but a milk spray every week from puberty did work for me, (no, the plants not me);)I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
Thanks
I have loads of packets of French bean seeds so if these ones don't make it, then I will try a bit later when I hope it will be lovely and sunny!
I'm going to plant my courgettes in a veg patch, once I have hardened them off, which I hope they survive0 -
Thanks

My french beans have germinated OK in the greenhouse, looking to plant them out in June, with my runners.
My peppers/Chilis have been very slow0 -
My courgettes are still small and in the greenhouse - good job with all of this rain ! My chillies are coming through slowly - they did really well last year , I ordered my seeds through moreveg - great value and choice and good success rate. I am in derbyshire0

My french beans have zero germination .........think that I was too early, given the weather.
I might try to sow some more but start indoors? Or am I too late now? I can't keep up
My peppers and chillies were a no show, just soil taking up space in the propagator. I have been looking at seeds online. I might buy a plant but I like to grow from seed.
Thanks patsypickles, I shall have a look at the seeds0
