I think the general poverty sums it up nicely.

Seriously, on what basis are you defending it?

    Bow is a sh!hole.

I've lived in Bow for four years, and parts of it are actually really nice. I live right next to Victoria Park (one of the nicest parks in London) overlooking the canal. You have Roman Road close by which has most of the shops you need, Stratford (Westfield) is a short bus ride away. If you're in this part of Bow then the tube links aren't great, but Liverpool Street is about half an hour away on the number 8 bus. If you wanted to be closer you could look at Bethnal Green or Shoreditch.

Stratford also isn't as bad as people are making out. And as you might imagine, the gentrification process is underway - rents went up a lot during the Olympics (and have stayed up) and there are all the new blocks of flats going up, as you mention.

With your budget you could be closer to Liverpool Street though, depending on what you're looking for.

On what other basis are you defending Stratford?

You wouldn't want to live anywhere else in London?

    Than Stratford? Seriously?

Is that actually true or is Stratford all you can afford right now? No problem with that of course, just feels like you're over compensating.
