Taxis would be the ideal solution. However, it isn't one taxi fare-it's eight- (SATs take place over four days), and without assuming anything about the OP's position, some families might struggle to find that sort of money at short notice.
It's an excellent idea to email the head tonight.import this0 -
I've emailed the school but no reply yet, should have thought about that earlier!
Yes in an ideal world i'd use taxis but the cost isnt do-able really unless I go without somewhere else, its not far and I suspect that many.of the teachers travel this way anyway on their way in so hopefully wont be a problem for a lift if I ask nicely
I suppose im lucky its just sats and not gcse's
:hello: Hiya, I'm single mom, avid moneysaver and freecycler, sometimes  but definatly

Hi,
I've taught y6 for a number of years!! See how she is on Monday!! Then if there are problems, ring schoo ASAP.... Us teachers are kindly souls and will do everything in our power to make life easy!! I have got pupils before, had one sit in a room on his own cos he panicked, had one sat on her own with the sick bowl etc etc.... School will have strategies in place - they just don't advertise them else all the little toads will jump on the bandwagon!!!!
Good luck to your DD and all her friends....... And to you too!!!!! It'll all be over by Friday!!!!!!!
Owl xx
I hope you don't teach your Yr 6 kids to use that many exclamation marks
As for your sig, you're joking aren't you? Teachers help them fly? Not their parents??pollypenny wrote: »I would say 'To hell with the SATs'. If your daughter is in pain with her ankle, she probably will not perform to her best, anyway.
I can't speak for maths and science, but we were always appalled at the standard of marking of English SATs.
I'm with you. If the kid is in pain, keep her at home or ring school first thing and see if they can accommodate her at home.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
Its all a fiddle anyway, at my daughters school all the thick kids sat in the library and didnt do any SAT's....if my daughter had a sprained ankle there would be no way i would be sending her to school if she's been told to rest, i don't rate SAT's anyway, i didnt have them as a kid.0

Does it have to be limited to one or the other? They did not say it is just down to the teachers. As for your sig, you're joking aren't you? Teachers help them fly? Not their parents??
.
IMO my childrens teachers do a fantastic job helping my girls to reach their full potential.0 -

In the sig it's limited because it doesn't mention parents at all does it?Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -

Still disagree, as it says HELP them, I don't think she/he needs to say teachers and parents and the children themselves all have a bit of input to get them flying (although that ends up sounding like they have been on the fly lady thread, and I could do with my girls doing a bit of that type of flying this weekend:))0 -
Do schools really expect a child to sit an exam with a sick bowl by their side? Would an adult be expected to go into work with a sick bowl?0

Oh! I thought I was being helpful to the OP...... And as for my Y6s, all their choice, and after careful discussion with them AND their parents!
As for my sig- a quote, given to me, by a parent on a sign to hang on my wall, I liked it and stole it......... It does not say that teachers are the only party to this, neither do I pretend that the education of a child is all down to me.....
Not sure why I have to justify myself to some of you...
OP- sorry if I have offended you/ happy to have helped if I did. Everyone else, it really doesn't matter what you think.Children are born with wings .... Teachers help them to flyOne day your life is going to flash in front of your eyes.... Make sure it's worth watching!!!!!0 -

More to the point, why would a parent actually bow to this kind of pressure from the school by taking a sick child in.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0
