Personally I think the thanks button is there to stop clutter on the board. I believe this is probably the same reason for the limited character posting (one word postings are not permitted etc). I believe it is just there to prevent people posting simple "thanks" replies.

Sound analysis Alan: thanks; thanks; thanks; thanks;thanks; thanks; thanks; thanks; thanks; thanks; thanks; thanks; thanks; thanks; thanks; thanks.

So glad I beat Bart and Jock to that one :D

Joking apart, my "Thanks" button doesn't work at home. We're on BT Internet, anybody else have the same problem? I think it's got something to do with the security. I can only "Post Quick Reply" if I go to "Advanced".

I may have to swallow my pride and ask nerdy "Albertross" but the last time I asked him a question it was along the lines of "with so many Posts and Thanks do you sleep with a mouse up your @rse"?

Mmm, maybe I need to look elsewhere for the answer.

    I did Al,

I've been clicking the damm thing everytime I've been on line this evening. My first job when I get to work is spending half an hour clicking the "Thanks" button :D

As a matter of interest, if you wern't using IE, which browser were you using to access MSE?

    Yes seems strange.

Firefox, Avant, Konqueror and IE all work fine for me.

    Hi dither,

It is IE but I usually sign in through the B.T Icon and that activates the Anti-Virus and Security software and take me to the B.T Home Page. I think the reason the "Thanks" and "Post Quick Reply" Buttons don't work is because the MSE Website has to use cookies saved to your computer but the B.T Security won't allow them to be saved; consequently the buttons won't work.

Something else, when I post a reply or answer a PM it automatically logs me out and I have to sign back in again. I've lost some quite long replies which is annoying so I always compose the reply in word and then copy & paste it.

If I go on-line through the I.E icon then it doesn't activate the security or not in the same way and the buttons work. Anyway, that's enough I.T for me for this morning.
