I'm one of those people who's also put off by someone asking/telling me to say thanks. I'm not a child & I have very good manners, so I already know when & how to thank someone, & I either do it with the 'thanks' button or by thanking the poster in a subsequent post. How they get the thanks shouldn't make a difference to them unless they're one of those people for whom the number of thanks is important. :)

You ought to look at the Depression and Depression II threads on the Health Board. There's an amazing clique who routinely thank each other's posts all the time. It make them look so helpful when all they're doing is having a whine and a natter!
(No disrespect to anyone suffering from depression intended; I've just gone back to work after 4 weeks off because of it.)

I see Rich is charming the ladies again. :D

    Welcome back Rich!

    Aw Neko,

I'm not trying to charm anybody, you're just such a lovely bunch of gals and guys that it makes me feel warm and tingly all over when I read your supportive and helpful comments :D

As for somebody that needs to spend so much on her hair, Neko, if ever you need somebody to gently and expertly brush those long curly locks I'd be the first to volunteer :j As long as you paid my train fare of course :rotfl:

From what I can remember when the thanks buttons were introduced we were told they were to stop cluttering up the boards with posts just saying thanks.

But I have to agree if someone's signature asks me to thank them then I won't out of shere cussedness lol

I don't really see anything wrong with this at all!!! I mean who really cares whether cyber friends appear to 'over-thank' each other. I have friends on here and I thank them all the time-cos I am damn pleased they are bothering to talk to me!!!:D
I don't view people 'thanks' ratings as a sign of how helpful they are at all!
If I want to say thanks I do, if I don't I don't. And if someone asks me to, then it seems I don't either!!!:rotfl:

Thanks Dither (just can't get away from the Thanks word)

We had some very romantic clinches in the big beautiful ocean but there were times when I thought the cold had frozen the blood in certain parts of my extemities :D What I mean is, I thought I'd got frostbite in my big toe :rotfl:

Mmm, not quite sure what that would have made me

Personally I think the thanks button is there to stop clutter on the board. I believe this is probably the same reason for the limited character posting (one word postings are not permitted etc). I believe it is just there to prevent people posting simple "thanks" replies.
