    Morning!

Surely it's far too early to be up on a Sunday?

OH says we are going into town today but I will be good and resist buying anything too frivolous or non-essential. Treated us to 4 tomato plants yesterday on the basis that they are further along than my poor seedlings so I can stagger my crop a bit. (Got some free tomato feed with it!) Who would have thought you could get brownish purple tomatoes?!

Today I shall attempt to !!!!! (ahaha, mse has edited out pr!ck, which I assure you is a proper gardening term!) out some of the salad leaf seedlings so I don't waste loads by just thinning them.

Put down some broken egg shell by the radishes as the first line of the slug defence. (Have spotted a few nibbles out the leaves)

Found that OH's wallet has a hole in it (must be what's happening to all his money then :rotfl:) so I will buy him a new one for wedding anniversary.

    Poss bake something

Start second dandelion wine. Just need a satsuma.

Have a good one guys xx

Argh been out into the garden to find the biggest dirtiest protest yet from the cat/fox. Had a brainwave though. Let's just say I have some rather fine and mature holly trees in my garden ;) :rotfl:

    Morning friends,

    Carrie

MONEY-SAVING TIP FOR GARDENERS by Rebecca Mecomber:

    Repel slugs by:
    1. Putting down crushed egg shells. Thanks Carrie
    2. Watering the garden in the early morning. Many slugs are nocturnal and love water. Watering early part allows the plants and topsoil to dry out before nightfall.
    3. Laying squares of cardboard outside the vegetable garden bed, to create a shelter trap. Check underneath the cardboard for slugs every morning, and discard them or place in your bird feeder.
    4. Sprinkling wood ash or sand around the plants or around the garden edge. The sensitive mucous bodies of slugs and snails are damaged by the tiny jagged edges of these materials.
    5. Nailing thin sheets of copper foil or copper tape onto wooden boards and placed around the perimeter of the garden. Copper ions repel slugs, causing a chemical reaction that slugs and snails dislike.
    FREEBIES:
    1. Free Greek yogurt at Waitrose. (Link)
    2. Free two-month Friends and Family Railcard via Daily Mail for a third off adult fares and 60% of childrens' fares. For each journey there must be at least one adult and one child travelling together. (Link)
    3. Free tickets to Goodwood Moving Motor Show. (Link)
    4. Free sample of Artificial Grass. For crafting? (Link)
    5. Free issue of Cyclist magazine. (Link)
    OFFERS
    1. In today's Mail on Sunday, page 84 voucher for Les Mis DVD redeemable today in Tesco, WHSmith, Eason or selected independent stores. (Link)
    2. In today's Sunday Times, page29, free Sky NowTV 24-hour pass worth £9.99, watch all 6 sports channels.
