    Hi everyone. Happy anniversary ally

Having to work today and tyomorrow to catch up on the sheer volume of work I have on at the moment. Sadly I don't get paid any extra. I am supposed to be able to take the time back in lieu, but it's very rare that it's quiet enough for me to be able to do that.

    Today I have/will
    • Received an offer of £30 compensation from British Gas for them failing to keep an appointment last month. I'd stayed in all day to wait for them, and they eventually turned up the following day which caused me to lose time at work. Financially it didn't really cost me anything, as I just took it as time in lieu so, although I'd claimed for the equivalent of half a days pay, I reckon £30 is a reasonable offer.
    • Checked online banking. Pay day was yesterday, so all is good at the moment.
    • Paid maintenance to ex.
    • Walked to station then rail pass to work
    • Used work's printer to print off a coupon for Go Outdoors. I'm hoping to pop up there tomorrow either before, during or after work if I'm not too busy
    • Free tea/coffee/water at work
    • Charged phones at work
    • Submit updated timesheet as I hadnt originally planned to work today
    • Pop to Aldi on the way home from work to buy some bread and milk. I don't need anything else just yet
    • Make tea from stores
Think that's about it. Have a good day all

    Hi everyone,
Not planning much of a money-saving weekend particularly, but neither am I planning to go anywhere except to the village garden centre to buy one growbag, so I should be pretty well behaved!
*Mr f did the grocery shopping having already brought me breakfast in bed.....he stuck to the list except for some bargain chicken which he knew was on the meal plans for the week after next anyway. 10/10!!
*Friends coming over for dinner. Decided to do roast chicken. It's as good as anything & will leave us with some leftovers.....can't have me pining for rubber chicken activity, can we now?!
*Changed dessert idea from one involving buying 3 pricy ingredients & decided to buy a tub of decent ice cream & bake biscuits to have with it, so only had to buy ice cream & butter. Biscuits came out nicely. Had to test one. Then another one just to make sure.
*All veggies watered & checked for pests/problems. One baby lettuce had been decapitated in the high winds so ate it for lunch.
    *Did a few surveys.
*Keeping an eye on my ebay items which are up today & tomorrow. One of the tops I'm selling is up to more than £13, there are lots of watchers & lots of my sheet music has sold. I was hoping to make at least £30 towards camping gear, but am already at over £45, so fingers crossed. Think it's freelisting this weekend, so will relist anything I don't sell for another go.
*Decided to clean up the old Le Creuset kettle & use it instead of buying a new one, which I almost did yesterday. Seems a bit silly just to have an electric one when the traditional one looks so nice. Will measure out a cafetiere's worth of water & mark it to make sure I don't go back to my old bad habits of boiling a full kettle each time.
That's it for me.......tomorrow is a gardening day. Mr f is putting the potatoes in & I'm going to get my aubergines potted up & start planting out the hardy annuals I grew from free seed. Have a good weekend, everyone.

    Hello all!
The past 3 weeks have been manic - an Oftsed inspection at work, a trip home to Wales for a funeral and 700 pieces of coursework to check and submit to the exam board. I am shattered but things will get easier now. Its downhill to the summer holidays for me now :j

Needless to say money saving has gone out of the window recently but I need to rein it in again so here goes...
    • Walked dog locally to save petrol
    • Shopped at village shops for fresh stuff and the odd tin to save me traipsing round tescos and buying things I don't need - spent £23 in total vs the usual £40 odd
    • Reserved a lawnmower at Argos but then changed my mind so no money spent
    • Cleaned the house - hoovered and dusted
    • Changed the bed - sheets in the machine now
    • Staying in tonight - will watch stuff off the planner
    • Made a new grocery budget for May - I need to be strict with myself to get back on track
    • Need to do a meal plan for the week to make sure I use everything up
    • Cook something nice and healthy for tea
    • Phoned mum using free landline
    • See if there's anything ebayable - free weekend
Not at all DFW but much needed - just back from an hour long massage - lovely but not cheap. Feel loads better for it though :)

Hi ally - thanks for the kick off

    Hi everyone :hello:

I won £110 in a comp at work :T - took £20 each for me and OH, paid the carpet fitter and buying groceries with the rest :D

Used old bedroom carpet to carpet stairs and landing - looks fab and only £30 for fitting rather than £200ish for brand new carpet. OH wasn't sure about the blue colour but now it's down he's said 'It looks like grey in this light' - result - I think that means he's happy too and won't go banging on about how he wants a new stripey one :rotfl:

Going to @ldi today with winnings :p Free' food is the best food.

FIL helping put up our wardrobes :D Saving £299 'installation fee!

Big long dog walk - free exercise and not paying dog walker...

Continue my search for dog sitter cheaper than kennels...

Making the most of our lovefilm '£15 for 6 months' deal that runs out at the end of May!

    Checked banking and ccs

    Did a £3 survey - Q - Anyone want a pinecone invite?

Took day in lieu yesterday - bit of a cheek really as it was for my Sunday 'working' when I took that 10 hour business class flight!! :rotfl:

Oh -also productive day at work on Thurs when I spoke to guy who wants me on his team officially (I'm currently working for him but he's not my line manager so can't set pay and conditions etc). Says he recognises I'm doing a different job now and if I'm on his team then he can get all of that reviewed properly! Fingers crossed. He's not the quickest mover so I'll probably still be in current situ come Christmas! One can hope!

OH also has a job interview next week so crossing my fingers.

Party tonight - walkable distance and rumours of a free bar :D

    Catch up soon y'all

Hiya, I wouldn't say no to a pine cone invite if you have any left please?

Haven't posted for a while but still read regularly, keeps me on the straight and narrow!

All good here, today has revolved around childrens activities as usual but they have had lots of fun. Dh came second in a poker night last night so he is eating us to a tesco takeaway bag for dinner :-)

    That's about it!
Full time working mum to 2 boys
DH Stay at home dad :)
  • Hi guys. Thanks for starting us alley, Bon anniversary! Hopefully many happy returns may your life be filled with happiness!

Candy I have a new phone too, am loving it!

La e your life sounds very exciting right now! Good for you x new carpet for a song is fantastic!

    WW wow sounds busy!

Gosh I now have a dilemma. I have been waiting for my crb to come through to start my job. Originally I was going to start work on 13th, but as the crb hadn't come through I thought it would likely be another week. However it came today. So the dilemma is call my new boss and agree to start Monday or take another week's holiday. If I don't start this Monday I won't get paid until the end of June which will be tight financially so makes me think I should take the bull by the horns, but on the other hand it really has been great having an extended period of leave...

    Things for the day:

    Checked banking
    Shifted funds
    Paid yesterday's cc spends
Got £3 off of dd that she borrowed
    Hung up washing
Bleached out a plastic box to use as a washing basket rather than buying one
Portioned up and froze some spag from last night's dinner
Went out with ex-mil to TK Maxx & M&S and resisted buying anything
Mil bought me a coffee, banana and bag of crisis for lunch a
Sorted out a whole load of odd socks

Going to take dd out for something to eat to celebrate her moving into her new flat. She's going to come and stay the night so we'll come back and watch a film here x
