I guess thats the problem (people with your view battleborn) really some people cant see that they are paying twice and providing an appetite for the councils to push. So where would you draw the line - probably if it was 1000 pounds per year then you might disagree , but surely its a principle for those with less disposable income to yourself.

Why do you feel you are paying twice? You do realise that many people don't even have gardens? Council tax covers services that are of use to all, whereas what you want is an elective service.

I'd rather pay that than have the 500% increase in my council tax payments I've been lumped with instead.
Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

Arguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon: no matter how good you are at chess, its just going to knock over the pieces and strut around like its victorious.

and some have gardens bigger than others..

Can one start to say that you smoke so you cant have lung cancer treatment ? I (we as a nation I hope) don't think that is civilised so at some point you say lets pick up the tab for those less fortunate. And this kind of thing is what used to make us great, made us a desirable country to live in.

I dont think that the money generated by council tax is properly used no. I'm happy to be the minority here I just needed to vent and to say 'I'm watching you !' :)

You might want to reread that, it doesn't make much sense ;)

I sense a bigger issue, that you're not happy with the way your council tax is used in general. If that is the case, why not get involved, give feedback to your local councillors so they can forward it to the right people? You can make a difference if you want to ;)

Dont pay, wont pay, its just away of increasing my cost, without increasing my "council tax" bill, given that, I dont think its on the horizon here (yet).
I wouldnt make a journey to get rid of such stuff, I'd just dump it.

We have been charged for the last 2 years here, wheely bins were already provided before when they were collected free. Think its £26 a year.

I really can not see the problem with this. Garden waste has never been collected by the Council here. So when they offered a paid service about 5 years ago I was more than happy to subscirbe. It saves me the hassle of bagging it up, loading it into my car, driving the 15 mile round trip and queuing for 20 mins to unload it.

We get a collection once a fortnight and probably use 15-20 of them which saves more in petrol than the service costs.
Always get a Qualified opinion - My qualifications are that I am OLD and GRUMPY:p:p

makes sense to me - again in the minority and happy. No time to get involved and make a change - REALLY !!!

I like the dumping idea - same as what I do with the junk mail Royal Mail continually post through my door with no address I mail it return to sender. Even though we went online to stop this. Who pays for that all this leaflet dropping - we do when we buy stamps.

I can hear dogger sensing a bigger issue :T

Your already paying for it but you can't see it.
