Its a dry dog food but launching a cat one soon. Its high in meat no nasty fillers or cereals and gluten free.

I picked it because many reasons firstly its one of the best on market with 5* (highest) rating on whichdogfood website, secondly my dog loves it and the small kibble size (avaliable in 2 different size kibble) is perfect. Lastly but most important my dog suffers from seizures and grain free is best for Epiletic dogs studies found and also Rosemary and Sage is a trigger, but these are found in most dog foods as natural preseratives. Eden contains none of these and so was the obvious option. Though I do like Taste of The Wild which also is very similar to Eden. However Eden is made in UK and all the ingredients are from UK and human grade.

Its £50 for 15kg but you feed less than other brands and it works out 44p for my 8kg dog a day which is great.

Going back to the container I might order the black containers from zooplus. We don't have mice thankfully even though our cat can be lazy she would gobble them up quickly if we had any. Its more to keep it fresh. Our cat loved the samples as well we got for dog but I have been told that cats don't do well on dry food and develop kidney issues. She has burns put down to graze on and she happy with that. We gave her applaws but she had a very upset tummy so maybe to much protein. She happy with her botiza anyway.

I can't visualise how much volume 15kg will be, but Ikea do a massive range of cheap plastic containers that would be fine for dry food. You wouldn't have a spout or pourer but then 15kg is too heavy to lift anyway so I imagine you'll be scooping what you need out.

I have a huge black dustbin which I place the food bag in. I then bought a big square plastic tub (food container) from Morrisons which I fill and keep in the kitchen.

Have you gone past a skip with all those emulsion large paint pots with airtight lids going to waste ? As long as the paint is water based, after a thorough cleaning they can be used to store large amounts of pet and bird food. if you paint the outside and drill a hole underneath they can be used as super outdoor plant holders.

That's actually hideously expensive (sorry!) - it might be OK if you've a small dog but for a large breed you're looking at significant costs.

Taking your calculation, it would cost me around £2.00 / day to feed Maisie. I can feed her a whole range of high quality meats for that price or less eg Nature Menu, Wainwrights, Lukullus, AG Partners etc etc (sorry)

She's currently getting a mix of a decent kibble and one of the meats mentioned above and it costs less than 70p / day!

Yeah I understand totally that its out of peoples price range with big dogs. For me its going to last at least 10 months so its not that bad.

I would go for a cheaper one like Skinners Duck Rice but she needs grain free and only the pricey ones are grain free.
She use to be fed on wainwrights as well its a great food for the price.

Am going to have a look around my local shops today and see what I can find. I was going to buy a cereal box and just put 1kg or so in that and seal the rest in a big container.

    .

If she was OK with Wainwrights she should be OK with Skinners (Duck & Rice, Turkey & Rice and Salmon & Rice only) - they both use Rice as their grain/filler.

The ingredients list (I checked the Duck & Rice) for both is actually pretty similar and there's around £10-12 difference in price.

However, if the Eden's going to last 10 months (*sigh* I wish:o), then it's not so much of an issue for you.

Have you tried a sample to make sure she likes it / it agrees with her?

Re storing - I empty the bag into my storage bin & have a tub that holds around a weeks' worth of food that I keep in the kitchen - much easier than having to go upstairs all the time!

Poppy is on Eden and the last 15kg I ordered actually came as 2 x 7.5kg bags which might help your storage issues? Maybe email and see if they can send yours out this way?

Poppy is 15kg and has 120g per day, along with treats and chews etc. She is thriving on it and we are very happy with both the quality and price.

Risingfromtheashes- She used to be fed Wainwrights but had anal gland and teeth issues. I wanted to add a kibble to the mix but can't really afford big amount. I first looked at Skinners Duck and Rice as its best for a low budget. She ate it but only after starved for day and with her being Epiletic I don't want this as blood sugar levels can play big part.

After futher researching into foods to help with seizures I found that most vets suggested a high quality cereal/grain free food and also free from certain herbs like rosemary and sage. Thats why I have chosen Eden. Plus its the only real food she likes probs due to small kibble size. She also liked Fish4Dogs Small bite but it has rosemary in it. I now feed her Natures Instinct Raw and Fishmongers wet as they cereal free.

I already tried her on Eden they where very helpful and sent me a free 400g sample rather than pay £5.

niandsa- Thats great is it still £50 or do they charge more that way. Reason why am being 15kg is because in long run save money as 2x7.5kg is £60 and then shipping each time you order them.

Couldn't find anything at local supermarket but got a big cereal container to put around 2kg so not bad. The bins where around £10 anyways and bulky so i'd rather the one from zooplus.

Oh dear, not for a 40kg dog then, almost as expensive as Orijen :(

    Perhaps one day...
