i am a member of the newport DDT and i strongly recommend it to anyone. some areas may be slower than others, newport has only just started but the list of members is growing all the time!
the whole idea is to put something you would other wise throw out, a good home. its good to have a choice of methods to use.
if you dont mind 175 emails a day, then freecycles perfect, but if, like me you prefer the quieter approach to it all, then DDT is a good alternative.
its basically just a matter of personal preference, with the ultimate goal being the same for both.
there is also another site, which is very new, with, again the same goal.
the site is called efreeko and people have the option of posting the item, if the cost of postage is covered by the recipient.
again, all these sites have the same goal in the end and, surely isn't worth bickering over. its the environment we are all trying to help isnt it? which ever method we choose.

    Hello,

I help run the http://www.efreeko.co.uk website and I say the more the merrier. Our goal was to reduce waste being sent to landfill sites, being webdesigners we wanted a site that was easy to use, IMHO using yahoo groups was not a great solution. We also wanted to create a national database of items that could be posted.

Our aim is to try and recycle 3,000 items by the end of the year, we only started in dec 2006 and we are up to 750 ish, so if you want to help recycle stuff or if you just want something for free do pop over ;)

    Matt.
