Yes your absolutely rigtht but the practice of dying condemned carcases was already in place at the time hence the bleaching process.

thanks ben500 ...i thought they were bleaching to get rid of the green slim.....

but how did it managed to go for soooo long  surely the local authorities should do random un anounced checks on food production places.....

not make an appointment to say they are coming... so then the factory/shop et can have a major clean up and get their paper work in order....

I'm not defending the supermarkets, but surely you know if meat is off when you unwrap it. I binned £6 worth of chicken the other day that was 2 days within it's sell by date because it stunk

this could have also been down to the meat packing plant ...adding more onto the use by date... to save wastage.......

as they add a lot of water ( which has a substance which is made from PORK by-products added to it ) to help it retain weight and mositure ( as chicken dries out sooo quickly especially breast/strips etc )

so as i say it could also be the food companies fault as well

not condoneing what the programme showed but who says butchers etc are any better???

In my local butchers you can see behind the counter and thats it i can't see where the meats prepared and often theirs no use by/sell by date on the meat so who's to say its not going on there as well
Other women want a boob job. Honey the only silicone i'm interested in is on a 12 cup muffin tray, preferably shaped like little hearts

    HI
I have noticed for a long time that Asda mince goes off well within sell by. I must have taken back half a dozen packets and don't buy meat from Asda anymore. The Houmous factory- what are enviromental health and health safety doing not closing it down. The floor was disgusting, slops everywhere, surely that is against enviromental health and is definitely a trip hazard.

I was shocked, but do remember a colleague who had done a degree in hospitality telling me of supermarkets taking meat of shelves at sell by putting it in marinade and putting it back out. Also sandwiches having sellbys changes and little dots put on so they were only changed twice!! Conscientious huh!

Where do we shop to avoid this sort of thing, not to mention the treatment of animals before and during slaughter being humane. I think I'll give up eating - wish I could, Would probably survive a good 6 mths on what I have stored!!!

They made hummus in the same factory that those hideous ready meals were made. Conditions looked dreadful.

imo ..i feel with buying meat from the butchers. you can see the meat in the counter without the plastic wrapping around it.... which ( i dont know whether i am right here, so please correct me if i am wrong ) i think as no air can get to the meat slows down any effects...

with meat in the butchers you can also see all the joint or portion of meat... not only the topside... as we were told allways put the best side facing up and thats the only part the customer sees.....and the grooty part was allways unseen......until you opened the pack....

how many times have you bought meat, and it looked wonderful, until you opened the pack, and all the fat and brown bit was on the under neath...

110frankie - yes journalists can twist the truth! ( to be nice), but we actually saw what was happening, no amount of editing or spin could have changed that.
