It can be even worse if you get the smaller one.
They claim it's 6 inches long, but sometimes it can be only 5- if the staff don't cut a full baguette down the middle. In percentage terms, that's twice as bad.0 -
I got one that was 12.5" long, so I made a sharp exit before they came after me for more money...<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0

This matters to people that much?!0

if they don't make 'em shorter, they'll just make 'em thinner.0

There must be some phallic jokes that can be, er, inserted here.0

"Does it really mater?"
I don't know how much a foot long sub is but let's assume for argument sake that it costs £4. Per inch, it will cost around 33p. A 11 inch sub in total should be £3.63 but you are in fact getting charged £4.
1 single inch doesn't like a lot but you're losing out on 33p worth of food.

The footlong relates to the paper not the sandwich (After I had a drunken conversation with the manager of my local who took me out the back into the office to show me the letter from HO).0

problem is though it is advertised as a footlong sub, not the paper, to do anything else is false advertising under british law. They should have just said something like a large sub and a normal sub,:j:j:j0

Where else do you pay for sandwiches by the inch, though?
I understand that you're not getting what Subway have named, but when I buy a sandwich I buy the sandwich and the exact length or size doesn't enter my mind.
As long as I'm paying for a sandwich and feel that what I receive is an acceptable size for what I've paid, I'm happy. If I feel it's a rip-off, I don't go again.
Something is very wrong if I'm so bothered about the specifics that I'll pull out a ruler and measure my food.
It sounds like part of out 'claims culture' again.0
