Thanks everyone, am feeling a bit more positive now

DH took the afternoon off work in the end so I've at least had company.
I've also had another phone call from my specialist nurse to say I can stop the clexane injections :j Have to say my tummy is rather sore after 6 months of jabbing myself daily so that was very welcome news

David., DH and I already joked about me having the radio and then doing an Angelina Don't think it'll be an option i'm offered though.

Guess everyone has some risk of these things, at least i'll be closely monitored and i'll be on high alert myself so should catch anything early.

Have put the Champagne in the fridge :)

Just to rehash the argument as it might have been bilgey:

-Win 8 is miles better as an operating system than any other Windows OS, faster, safer
-it's not very user-friendly
-you can make it user-friendly by downloading Classic Shell free of charge
-Microsoft are releasing 8.1 upgrade free of charge which will give you the option to adopt a classic Windows 7 look
-upgrades from XP Pro or Vista are highly advisable IMHO as those OSs are now unsupported (which is why you can't download the latest Internet Explorer versions etc)
-an upgraded PC is effectively a new PC in my experience (I've upgraded 2 XP Pros to Win 8 and they are brilliant just like new)
-You need 2GB RAM or more for Win 8 to run properly
-if your PC is 64bit ready (my 2 XP Pros were) but running a 32GB operating system, you can upgrade to 64bit by downloading this upgrade to a USB stick on a 64bit PC then using the USB stick to install Win 8 in your 32 bit OS PC. Otherwise you'll just upgrade your 32 bit to 32 bit.
