Evening all, RL has kept me away over the weekend, but I've just tuned in to catch up and saw this.

Squills, as you know I live in a similar family situation to you. I've always had the thought in the back of my mind throughout our marriage that someday we would just need to grab our passports and head for the airport - some day that day will probably come. Having said that, I've also got an elderly relative I do some caring for who has had a stroke, and they come in a really broad spectrum of severity.

My own take on the situation for what it's worth is

a) Be really kind and understanding towards your wife, she'll probably feel awful about not being there and rather helpless.

b) Now is not a good moment to quibble about expense.

c) I'd personally suggest to your wife that the best thing is not to swamp the MIL and the family over there at this stage, especially as you don't know exactly what is what, but you completely understand if she wants to go over there and you will stay at home and look after the kids. Give her lots of moral support throughout.

Obviously when you have a better understanding of the situation you'll be able to reevaluate things.

Right - 2 flights booked, worked out nicely in terms of timing, 2 different one way tickets with different airlines from the same airport, about £175 altogether so not too bad given it's so close, very early Fri- very late Sun, ie 3 days of hospital visits. So she's not rushing out, got a couple of meetings arranged and her mother's in capable hands. All checked in, just need a hotel for Thursday night and a bit of packing where thankfully the Squills services are totally redundant

This will be a head office fault, as on the SEL you can't print 6 for £3 and 10 for £4 however in my local it only said offer. This can not be changed by the store itself.
I would suggest in future you consider your words a little as some people may take offence to the way you have written what you did.
To solve the problem however you can go to the CSD and they will put the till in training mode and check the offer to see if 10 will work.
