I think this problem with the council housing has been caused, at least in part, by people insisting on living in massive houses in expensive areas, which the government has to pay for, therefore leaving less money to go around.

6 Weeks before we got married my OH was made redundant. He was lucky enough to find another job but a long way away, we therefore we had to sell the house he was living in at the time and move down here. We struggle at times to pay the mortgage, but we work hard and realise that if we cannot pay we will be reposessed. If a council tenant cannot pay they either demand more money or carry on as usual till that council gets around to having them thrown out, whence they are then rehoused.

If we can't afford to keep the house we would have to sell up and move somewhere cheaper/smaller.

House buyers have to cut their cloth to suit their income, and we have to go where the work is even if that means selling up and moving. Why should that not apply to council tenants? And don't tell me they're all vulnerable, have you seen the income you can have and still apply for a council house? Our local council estate has Mercedes and even a Porsche parked on it, and I know these are properties that are still council owned.

I will probably get slagged off for that, but there it is.

Th majority of council tenants do cut their cloth to suit their income. Yes there is always the exception, but if you have to sell up and move you may realise some capital towards the next property, council tenants don't.

You are right, council tenants are not all vulnerable, but you pretty much have had to be to secure a council house in the last 10 years.

This is another big womble I found earlier. Theres a 2 for £6 meat Multibuy on the receipt. The only meat I can see is the chicken and the pork steaks and I don't think these are in the 2 for £6. There are 2 lots of reduced meat at £2 odd each on the receipt so it must have taken the multibuy off the whoopsies

These were the best returns I could find all against Sainsburys

Dettol Refresh Hand Wash with Citrus Extract(250ml) 1.75
Dettol Healthy Touch Antibacterial Handwash - Cleanse with Sea Minerals & Aloe Vera(250ml) 1.75
Dettol Healthy Touch Nourish Antibacterial Handwash Liquid with Cotton Milk & Camomile(250ml) 1.82
L'Or!al Men Deodorant Carbon Protect Intensive Ice(150ml) 1.58

All four of those items that I was looking at yesterday. I thought the Cleanse and Aloe Vera and the Nourish - Cotton Milk/Camomile are £1.25 at T until 2/6? (Also where are you getting the Sains. price from:D - I have it as £2.50 on MSM?)

I agree with you on that one. Very few would possibly be genuinely vulnerable with the amount of support/counselling and free money they get!

Most of the council estate chavs who are on "jobbo" walk around in designer clobber and can afford the newest most expensive trainers whilst mere mortals like me who have to work end up wearing normal ones because we have mouths to feed and bills to pay and do not get heaps of free money dumped onto us!

Anyway, I am calm now. Honest. Deep breaths. :D

I don't want to get into a whole social debate but I really think this is ridiculous and completely uninformed.

I have worked in the public sector delivering benefits and dealing with these "jobbos" for over 22 years and believe me it is not a life that anyone would aspire to. There are lots of social and economic reasons why people end up in these poverty traps and it is extremely difficult to get out.
There is certainly no such thing as free money and the upcoming changes to the welfare system will cause major problems for vulnerable people who have to rely on the state and also for us in middle wage families who will also lose out.
A little charity and understanding goes a long way.

hi anyone help please - I did the Gala Bingo via TCB but cant see the deposit anywhere on my TCB account - is this normal (I actually won £94:j:j and they have just paid out - well done Gala only waited a couple of days too - well chuffed) but I would still like my money from TCB :rotfl:thank you

Up to now I haven't tried any of the Bingo or Casino sites cos I really don't understand what I have to do ! If anyone could give me a quick 'fools guide' I'd really appreciate it.

I have logged onto the Gala site via TCB and I guess I have to sin up first and then deposit £5 - that doesn't seem very much and I thought it was more than that? Then I get a £20 bonus and start playing. But how do I actually play - you guys seem to log on and then go off and make coffee, dinner etc and then come back to see if you've won! Does it all run automatically? Sorry to sound daft but its all a bit of a mystery to me - Id just like to try an easy one to start with.
