I bought some coir liners about 5 years ago (these are loved by the birds for nest building, so over the years, they've rather pulled them about and stolen bits, well, rather a lot now!). Then I line it (and slightly overwrap the top of the rack), with a heavy duty bin liner. Trim to fit. Make drainage holes towards the lower edge of the sides. I don't tend to put holes in the bottom, as the water would drain too freely.

I mix tub/basket soil, with moisture holding pellets, and feed pellets.

They have on at my local, and there is a lovely wren who nests in it every year. Amazing really as it is right next to the door, so a really busy area.
