Upgrade on orange - phone arrived but its not "new"
Finally received the new phone from my recent upgrade from Orange and its in a battered and bruised box which was already open. Phone itself looks ok but its obviously not "new" as such. On opening the box all the contents, except the phone, literally fell out - no packaging on them nor carefully arranged in the box as normal with these things.
This is the first time in 13 years with Orange that I've had a problem and I'm not 100% sure whether to just accept the phone or to ask for a replacement.
Anyone experienced this before? And is there an potential downside to keeping the phone - I'm presuming its unregistered etc and has just been returned from someone else, presumably unused?

It may of been damage in transitDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Assuming that you signed up for your upgrade based on a new phone, rather than a reconditioned one (these would normally come in a plain white box anyway I believe) - then it could be that there's been an error when sending your phone out. If you're not happy with what you've been sent - then get straight onto 150.0

phone them up if the box is a plain one it prob is reconditioned and could be a mistakeWhat goes around-comes around0

Its a retail box - just battered and opened. The box may have been damaged in transit but its been deliberately opened by someone prior to being sent out.
Still cant make up my mind if I can be bothered to return it and wait for a replacement providing there is no downside to it having been opened.0 -
It may of also been them checking the contents, or putting a new sim card in the box?Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

I'm fairly certain every other upgrade has come in a sealed box, which is what struck me as odd.
Might just give them a phone and see what they say.0 -
To be honest Latecomer - so long as the phone isn't damaged, if it was me - I'd probably just keep the phone as is.
I need to have a good look at it when I get home - had been at the pub last night so didn't want to mess about with it
My concern is that if it stops working after a short while and there is an issue with getting it repaired due to claims its been dropped or anything like that. I admit I'm a worrier and hence tend to over-think most things!0 -
We recently had an orange upgrade, and although the box was in perfect condition, I did think it had been opened and then resealed with official orange stickers, probably to put the sim in the box. All the packaging was there though, and I would think it was strange if the cables etc weren't in their plastic.
You could try phoning the people who send the phones out for Orange - I found their number when I was looking up how to return a phone, and the customer service rep I spoke to was great (and in the UK which is always a bonus when you are trying to sort these things out!)0 -

I need to double check when I get back later as I'm not 100 % sure whats packaged and what isn't. The various bits of paper are definitely not as they fell all over the floor when I opened the box.0
