I love bright coloured hair! I think it only looks great when all one colour though (and not faded!), I really don't like streaks or partially tinted hair, I think it tends to look unkempt/chavvy.

I love seeing people with the multicoloured hair all of it different unnatural shades. I wish I had done that. It wouldn't go down well now in my life!

The 'mermaid' hair is so much fun, and pretty when done well.

I am not a fan of the garish unnatural reds/ burgundy/ bleached looking orangey reds though, personally.

    It's so old hat!

I had pink hair over 20 years ago..and purple, and orange.

That's what us goths and indie kids did! :p

In the past 12 months I've seen two women in their 60s with pink hair - and they both looked stunning. Pick something that suits you and go for it!

Love it, my old flatmate and I had a different colour every month.
Just plain hair at the moment as the purple I had underneath my blonde has washed out and I can't redye until I've had my baby.

I like to see a streak or two of bright colour in people's hair.

In this day and age I don't think people are too shocked or disturbed by a bit of colour in a person's hair

I love bright hair when it's well done and well maintained.

Nasty, cheaply done and faded? Not so much.

I saw a girl the other day with amazing pink hair!

    I agree!

When its done well, and maintained, it looks amazing, and I always think the person with it looks like they might be fun!

Only trouble is when it is done, then neglected...I think that just looks awful.

Have always thought about it. But perhaps just the front rather than the whole lot!

Trouble is, I have black hair. Would I have to bleach it first for another colour to take?

I think it's brilliant. If I see a woman with bright red hair, I automatically smile, as I find it fun and life-affirming. Some can carry it off better than others, of course, but as a rule I love it.

  • I'd be wary of dying my hair an unnatural colour (including bright red) as it is frequently regarded as an indicator of a troubled past and/or some difficulties with mental health such as depression or social difficulty..

This is interesting - who is it that regards it this way, as I have never heard anyone say that before? Is it a stereotype or something documented?

Personally I feel that I am at my happiest with my hair coloured, as I like to feel that my outward appearance is a true reflection of my personality which is bright and lively, and because I enjoy the colour. Also I would have to question the idea that someone that has social difficulties would want to do anything to their hair that might cause them to stand out in a social situation?

I'm sorry but that is simply ridiculous! It's the people that think like that that have problems not someone who fancies a change in hair colour.

If you want to dye your hair, who cares what another person thinks it isn't harmful to them or you. Red hair is fairly main stream, I guess because it's easier to achieve than green, blue etc and is like a natural colour only enhanced. Go for it, it's your life at the end of it all.
